  • Hard News: So-called celebrity justice,

Andre - not every non-celebrity is a bus driver. You would be surprised how many employers operating in a professional capacity would have it written into an employment contract that if you were to break the law in such a manner as the case in question that you would be dismissed.

You do the crime, you do the time.

And, finally: A DISCUSSION ABOUT NAME SUPPRESSION IS NOT AN INVITATION OR EXCUSE TO BREACH SUCH SUPPRESSION. IF YOU VALUE THIS WEBSITE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT BREACH AN ORDER OR TRY AND BE CLEVER IN A WAY THAT MIGHT LEAD TO A NAME BEING DISCOVERED.

But I really want to know who it is! Anyone got John Key's mobile? I'll give him a bell and ask...

I disagree with name suppression (unless it relates to the victim). Clearly in this case it does not. As to the "stars" future work prospects - perhaps he should have thought of that before he did what he did. End of story.

volume-wise, the Ramones at the Powerstation would be mine.

Totally agree - couldn't tell one song from another it was so loud.

    Very enjoyable!

  • Hard News: Getting Across,

I'm with Joshua - I don't want to see the existing Auckland Harbour bridge removed - ugly or not it is an icon for Auckland. Even if it does cost a fortune to paint it endlessly...

As a yachty I'm pretty sure there would be some opposition to a bridge across the harbour between the existing bridge and the CBD as it would wreak havoc with wind and tidal currents. Also if it went anywhere near Westhaven there could be issues.

I'm also in favour of the motorway extension north - perhaps not as far as Wellsford (at this point) but certainly as far as Warkworth with some serious consideration for how traffic splits towards Omaha/Matakana/Leigh, Warkworth and further north. Think about what similar roads have done for Brisbane opening up the Sunshine and Gold coasts (OK - don't think about all their ugly high-rise buildings on the beaches, we can do without that).

  • Cracker: Mix Your Members,

I finally realise, nearly 30 years after the fact, that they're doing a car-rental variant of The Pointer Sisters' 'Fire'. Which is an oddly hot-n-sexy song to use.

    It's actually a Springsteen song...I don't usually associate his music with "hot-n-sexy"...but maybe that's because I'm a guy?

When does your product hit the streets?

I vote for clinical trials of Rik's chocolate.

I hear you, I hear you. I don't want to blame my beautiful little children for anything but they are at that age (nearly 1 and 2 and a quarter) where they take up just about every moment that you aren't working or sleeping. Which is great, but it doesn't allow me to break out the roaster and start fooling around with chocolate as much as I would like to. In fact, not at all!

I promise to make a batch before the year is out and will duly enlist the Public Address tasting panel for feedback.

And I hope I didn't sound too snarky about the cold-pressed chocolate - there's plenty of room for lots of interesting products like this, I just think that consumers have a right to know what they are consuming, especially at a venue such as GLFM.

  • Random Play: The glittering prizes,

I thought I would buy both books together however one is available through some sort of Amplifier shopfront and the other is available directly through Publicaddress Books...can this be simplified?

Good luck with the new book.

  • Hard News: The conversation they want to…,

I was intrigued by the "cold pressed chocolate" however when I started asking simple questions like "Do you import the beans and start from there or are you being supplied the cocoa mass?" the lady started fudging and wouldn't give me a straight answer. Also cocoa beans are known to (sometimes) contain salmonella which is eradicated through the roasting process however as this was a non-roasted product I would have liked to know how that was being addressed. Not sure if it was the vendor or just the tricky atmosphere of the packed market (why is it indoors?) but I prefer straight answers. Anyway - it tasted way to sweet for my likings!

How many hundred $ do you reckon the Windows 7 bug fix will set you back?

Grrrr...you're starting to sound like that twit Mark Webster that writes that one-eyed and often ill-informed blog about Macs for the Herald!

Take a good look around Windows 7: A First Look for IT Pros and tell me if you still view Windows 7 as a service pack?

The day everyone views a computer as simply a box with CPU, memory, disk running one of several operating systems that all have their strengths and weaknesses....well, that's probably about the same time that we rid the world of bigotry and bring about world peace.
