Tax Payers Union, Family First et al... show the power fringe lobby groups have to promote their agenda through a under resourced media and gain public acceptance
Is there any effective means to combat how they operate, as logic, facts and research seems to fail?

Now the flag is done I'm growingly bitter that for all that transpired we are no closer to knowing if NZ wanted a new flag... and angry that Key couldn't just start the process and claim victory at the end regardless of result... potentially a victory with the oppositions help, instead we've a bloody stupid waste of time for all

agree in the do it right, my fear is this is exciting policy and change in direction... the catalyst for so much other stuff that could radically change the nature of our society and economic framework... and while I get excited for those that will benefit from this I am also weary as I am still waiting for the much talked about knowledge economy...
Like others have said - Labour really need to get with the Greens, sure have your own policy and them theirs (both should be almost the same) but have a united front

is there any framework of timeline on Labour's investigation or anything more concrete than looking into etc.? Will they co-ordinate or co-operate with the Greens on this progressive piece of potential policy? If not why not?
Can we expect something to be presented pre next election or will this be a longer term project - I appreciate the complexity (actually I don't, its beyond my understanding).

there is little margin for the reseller due to the wholesale price from apple hence the sales disclaimers - all the peripherials stores like to sell around idevices are from other manufacturers, apple is very aggressive at keeping all the money

the argument holds for most things - other than oil still being essential (for now)
I'm in the Generalized indignation and Outrage camp - good corporate citizens don't shirk their responsibilities to the communities they serve (and profit from), that includes paying their taxes, not minimising them
Their behaviour is akin to far to many citizens, who see tax as something to be avoided, and wonder why services get eroded due to lack of govt funding/revenues
*sigh*

Not sure why oil gets sympathy where tech doesn't... other than its an essential item (currently)
I am willing to buy that oil companies have a lower profit margin in far flung, spread out New Zealand than elsewhere.
Replace oil with anything and hey thats NZ

And that is NOT the problem here. The problem we have is that NZ managers actively avoid local because … well because they are bad managers.
Bit it is part of the problem - if say Govt demanded local companies were preferred suppliers and to buy kiwi where-ever possible the culture of thinking we're somehow sub par compared to offshore companies would sooner than later disappear - and seep out into the business community as companies proved themselves
instead we have wilfully pushed kiwi companies to the back by allowing offshore competition and now with the TPPA potentially allowing well heeled and lawyer'ed up offshore interests to challenge contracts won by local firms
to create a level playing field you often have to tilt it
