I've just book for it. I like a good play about sports.

When I explained that I either bussed or walked, he was totally thrown.
But- But if you don't have a car, how to do you to Briscoes or Farmers and buy lots of things to put in your car to take home? DOES NOT COMPUTE!
I've been carless for over five years. It's a lot easier in Wellington than Auckland, but in both cities I could survive on walking and public transport.
In fact, when one has an iPod, there's really not much to complain about with public transport.

Turns out, though, that you also need photo ID to buy a house.
Oh, you could get one of those Hospitality Association of NZ 18+ Cards so you can both buy property, and wine from the supermarket.
Hilariously, the sample 18+ Card on the HANZ website has the birth year of 1981, making the cardholder a geriatric 29 years old this year.
P.S. See you at Hooch.

An idea that might work in film is unlikely to work the same in bronze. This should be a no-brainer.
Weta aren't just about digital special effects. They have skilled and talented model-makers, whose work has extended from film sets to the public.
They have the technical ability to make stuff, but not necessarily the artistic vision.
Hamilton's extremely cool Riff Raff statue is a Weta work, but it's pretty much a literal representation of Richard O'Brian as Riff Raff.
Weta's strength in original work seems to be the sort of cheeky sci-fi and fantasy model work, like the tripod in Courtenay Place and the sort of stuff you see for sale in the Weta Cave.
When it comes to actually creating sculptural art, Weta just doesn't seem to have an impressive body of work.

It is five metres high and it is horrible.
Oh, sweet Jesus. I've just realised how high five metres is! Arrgh! Keep it away from the waterfront!

That sculpture looks like something you'd buy from one of those "gifts for men" shops at the mall for your rugby-loving uncle, the afternoon of his 60th birthday.
It is art for people who don't like art.

Re the Wellywood sign: Wellington isn't copying Hollywood. It's copying Mosgiel.

Point of Information, Mr Cracker: I believe Wellington International Airport is now known as Wild at Heart, in celebration of 50 Wild Years.
Wot? That's just Wellington Airport's slogan. And it's better than anything like "Bringing Wellington to the world".
I like it because it makes me think of David Lynch, and then his Kiwi doppelganger Richard Till.

After the game I was leaving the stadium, going along Fran Wilde Walk with scores of Phoenix fans. The flag-waving and chanting continued all the way along.
But then, magically, the crowd started singing the Home and Away theme song.

There is also a Public Address/Cricket/Wellington announcement coming up, so keep an eye out for that.
If this involves lying around on the grass, drinking beers, then I fully support this lifestyle choice.
