Anyway, this term and after there will probably be recurring announcements about new blocks of public land being more strongly protected. Some will go into more National Parks, more Conservation Parks, or more Reserves, which is always going to reflect warm and fluffy karma back to the government of the day.

A Government that hasn’t given a toss before. We’ll see, I hope you are the correct one here.
Let's see what next weeks conference with big oil and Gas in Auckland brings also. Is it safe? I see the online Granny story has disappeared since this morning.

3 months is becoming 12. Team Key may say not selling any more assets but what of vast tracks of land? Excuse, freeing up for much needed housing development. NZ assets? Not at all. If they start by changing the classification of National parks….. and then there will be Farms to subdivide. Just a thought.

In a column about the media and their effect on the election it is almost perfect irony.

And she has no idea. Doubt she reads her comments section or she would not have posted that here.Cortex=Speargun= Bollocks. Dumbing down the masses or is she really blinded by the Key and believes that rubbish? She'll be ramping up the TPPA soon cos Key wants her to. It's not like she knows anything about it,just that it's good for business but what business?

You have expressed my dismay well. I spent time Up north in the lead up to 20 Sept. I was amazed at the words spouting from mouths around there. Whole sentences repeated from the Team Key news “people aren’t interested in that left wing conspiracy theorist” “we’d rather hear some policy” ” Hone is disrepecting his elders” “letting a German in ” I spent one night totally pissed off, and rather than debunk each statment ( “Labour’s good but they got that Cunliffe ”) I started saying thing like. ’Oh got that straight from what John Key was saying on the news” or “Oh that was printed in the herald” then “Dotcom is not in the IMP!!!” It is sad sad sad. I’m still pissed off.
But must admit my fav, "oh your only interested in policy, goodo, what's National policies? What ones do you like, what you don't know of any? "

The Ombudsman’s Office is in no way at fault. They are completely under-resourced.

I'm saying they finally are the ones doing anything. I applaud them, just wish they weren't what appears to be, alone. I think your "under-resourced" is telling of itself. Cut funding and a Department gets stifled or bogged down. They then would have to be selective as to how much work they can do. Would be interesting to see how many departments in the last 6 years have been squeezed or suppressed by legislation.

There is some doubt as to who actually was paying his wages.

I thought he changed over to the National Party when the campaign started with Joyce at the helm but had his Beehive pass after, when he should have forfeited it. Until then Ede was in the PM’s office, which is why it is said that we ,the taxpayer paid his wages. I figured the National Party paid him after he went to ground.

Is there a reason why it needs to be journalism that’s responsible for this? Why not (I don’t know)

The whole bloody lot need to address it at least. The Ombudsman seems interested finally, but yes scrutiny in the Public Service , FMA, SFO, etc
