  • Island Life: The resignation of Captain Worth,

So did he (Worth) jump because he saw the push coming, do you think?

Who knows? Because we STILL haven't been told why a Minister of the Crown had to resign before the PM fired him!

  • Island Life: The resignation of Captain Worth,

    So he's gone totally.
I LOVE this line in his press release: “I could spend the future bemoaning the unfairness of a campaign which has Labour’s fingerprints all over it. But that is not my nature. The campaign has been run against me by people who are unable or unwilling to back their claims with credible evidence of criminal activity."

Ha, "I won't complain about them BUT IT'S THEIR FAULT AND I FEEL I SHOULD COMPLAIN ABOUT IT"

  • Cracker: 19 Questions*,

When we get our new Supercity, can we make our new Knights guard the main gates?

As Richard Boock said: "Sadly, however, today's knights don't seem at all disposed towards mortal combat, nor even the idea of suffering a mere flesh wound. Which makes you wonder why we bother having them at all. I mean, if they're not allowed to roam the countryside blocking bridges and smiting each other over the top of their battle helmets, what useful purpose can they serve? It's not as if they're needed to defend the realm. Most of them struggle with the stairs."

Take a look at Ireland who have been dropped from AA+ to AA-

And then go and take a look at the 10% contraction in their economy and their 17% unemployment rate and recognise that they are a totally different kettle of fish to us.

I think the ARC called them "Community Councils" and they had a heck of a lot more power than the government's proposed "local boards".

What do you mean? These boards will be super powerful! They'll have to meet on a park bench of course, but still...

Yup, Rodney told Morning Report the local boards "won’t necessarily need to have premises" and could just meet in the library or something. Good. Lord.

  • Hard News: Rodney's Folly,

The fact that the cabinet paper winges about the consulting the public on "decisions to contract major council services to the private sector or to sell shares in a port or airport company" is pretty explicit and it's quite odd that Key et al signed it (from a political mangement perspective).

I'm pretty relaxed about local communities making decisions about which services they'd like to run through their council and which they'd not, but it's a pretty major decision that shouldn't be hidden away from public consultation...

Sharpies are excellent for writing on blank CDRs

So given they are tools of taggers and illegal downloaders I suspect Judith Collins will be having them crushed shortly.
