i have to go into town today past nick smiths office so i may as well see if i can start a process of getting clarification on and protection for the estuary here.
apprently the iwi had a decision reversed by the courts last year despite previous decisions granting ownership to say that the intial decisions to grant ownership were an oversight and werent meant to be given..hmmmm
...and in the meantime we still got people disrespecting the burial sites, disturbing the protected nesting birdlife, carving up the estuary with vehicle tracks, dragging nets up the channel and overfishing the cockle beds
at the very least there should be some signage to say something governing the law and history of this place.
