Hard News: The Mayor's marginal enemies, in reply to
Penny, you may not be right wing but you are playing into the hands of the right wing. And if you did help the 2nd most popular mayoral candidate into office, you would find him far less interested in your causes than the current Mayor.
Your idealism is admirable but hopelessly impossible and your delivery is so unreasonable and dogmatic that no one listens. Hence your otherwise worthwhile cause actually suffers.
Please consider the effect on Auckland's future public transport system, an utterly critical policy of Browns, if he were to lose the next election because your protests have given his right wing enemies the fuel to keep attacking him.

Hard News: The Mayor's marginal enemies, in reply to
Damn straight.
Going by above comments, NZ's two biggest newspapers are fairly strongly right-leaning. So how does that square with the received wisdom that most journalists are lefties?

Have you just taken a job at TV3?

That's a good point about keeping Winston closer. But I wonder if Labour should declare they will NOT form a coalition with NZFirst. It would certainly destroy NZFirst as any kind of soft vote for change and compel voters to vote Labour/green or national. It'd make Cunliffe look staunch and tough too.

Tea party antics go down a treat on the front page of 'New Zealand's newspaper'. Granny's getting as bad as she was in the late eighties.

As for BDO, it's our first one in years and looking forward to it immensely. Bravo for the change of venue!

Between Rodney Hide and Bob Jones the Herald opinion pages must be pretty right wing (aka centre right) and miserable with it. Surely they provide balance in their opinion pages? Journalists pride themselves on balance! Or all those tens of thousands of readers are being pounded over and over with misinformation, like your kiwi foo mates, and we will never develop the political will to tackle climate change.
I know I keep banging on about it... But it comes down to media.

Excellent news. Does this reflect MTS extending their brief to non-Maori subjects? That'd be good news for Pakeha and Maori audiences but might create tension with their funders who focus on strengthening the reo.
Anyway, congratulations to the Media Matters team and MTS, truly a fantastic TV channel.

Hard News: The Public Address Word of…, in reply to
Oh I see. Well I think it's probably become a word and though horrible, is short hand for part of society that's sometimes denied. Anyway, I withdraw and offer my second choice...
