  • Hard News: Time to Vote, in reply to Joe Wylie,

(Disclaimer: I party voted IM, and I’m bloody old. Now what about all the yoof that fiftysomethings who really should have known better were predicting would be motivated & mobilised by Dotcom’s shitemusic?)

My bet will be that a lot of them had to cast special votes because of enrolling too late to be on the printed list (my vote included). So they won't be finalised til Monday.

I wanted so badly to vote for IMP, but with everything hanging on Hone, and Labour campaigning hard against him (serious wtf moment), I decided not to risk a wasted left vote.

  • Hard News: Time to Vote,

Sorry, actually, I see that there are 250,000 special votes, and they won't be finalised til Monday. It could be that a high proportion of them are for the left, so it could change, but I'm not holding my breath.

Yes, it was bloody ridiculous! I can't even understand what they were even thinking.

  • Hard News: Time to Vote, in reply to tussock,

Big boxes come last, and they come hard for the left.

I don't think it'll be anywhere near enough. Word is that there are a lot of special votes this election, but I don't think it'll be enough to sway any of the seats. Most look like they have gone by a margin of over 1000.
Also, I have a feeling those special votes are from first time voters who actually somehow or another managed to not complete the enrolment process.

  • OnPoint: "Project SPEARGUN underway", in reply to mark taslov,

I’ve been looking back for it for days, but it seems to have vanished, and I can’t find any other reference to this on the net.

Let us know if it turns up. I've never heard of him having had his opinion changed about this by someone.

  • Hard News: Time to Vote, in reply to Emma Hart,

can people who are not enrolled cast a special vote on the day?

You can cast it if'n you want. It won't be counted. One could have enrolled up until today, but not tomorrow.

You can enrol online up until midnight tonight.

  • Hard News: Time to Vote, in reply to Greg Dawson,

Yes, my friend in Scotland has already conceded defeat, knowing the size of the councils yet to finish counting. Personally, I think it's a real shame, but they did well considering the uphill battle that it was.

  • Hard News: Time to Vote, in reply to James Green,

    OK - I'll bite a bit.

I'm not trying to bait you, I've been on here for years lurking. I was just genuinely curious because I would have thought that the easier it is to vote, the more people would be likely to do it. I was/am interested to hear why that idea might be mistaken.

You can vote online, she just needs to download the pdf form, get a colleague to witness it, take a photo of her vote, and then upload it. All is not lost!

  • Hard News: Time to Vote, in reply to James Green,

Hmmm, I'm not so sure, because this time around, I've heard that very high numbers of people have voted early. But, then again, sometimes I'm just ridiculously optimistic about things ;)
Although, if you want to elaborate, I'd be interested to hear it :)
