I’m wondering why there isn’t already a reality tv show about the rebuild – working title Que CERA, CERA
Because it's an original idea, and therefore not eligible for NZOA funding?

R.I.P., Levon Helm.

I'm not sure what "guilty in a factual sense" means. I can understand what legal guilt is and moral guilt, but factual?" What fact am I guilty with respect to?
You feel guilty about eating all of the guavas because you are guilty of eating all of the guavas.
We're really not that far apart on this; I just don't think it's right to talk about "moral" guilt when you're simply discussing whether or not you committed an act. It's a matter of fact; did eat the guavas = guilty of eating the guavas, did not eat the guavas = not guilty...
The "legal sense" is a finding. You are found (or not found) to have been proven guilty.

Hard News: The war over a mystery, in reply to
I think the idea of "guilty in a moral sense" muddies the waters somewhat. In the guava example you are guilty in a factual sense, if not a legal sense.

this form of Turing test is already happening.
Absolutely. An interesting example on the 6 o'clock news the other night: A reporter was addressing the camera. In the background, a large ship was steaming into port. I suddenly thought "Holy shit! That ship is going too fast; it's going to crash into that other ship!", before quickly realising that it was merely a CGI Titanic, sidling up to a modern liner in order to illustrate relative size. :)

Guys, just give up the telly
I'm getting there.
Presumably, Peter's suggesting that I sign up for Sky, watch GoT until the series is finished, then quit Sky, for $250. It's a laughable proposition. We're talking about ten hours of TV, and you can buy an actual television for that much money.

Ultimately the problem is not just of Sky's making - far from it.
True. That'd like blaming the fox for eating the chickens when the farmer left the door open.

Paying for SoHo isn't legitimate?
I suppose you'd argue that legal = legitimate, but if I wanted to watch legal and fresh episodes of Game of Thrones, as far as I know, the *only* way is to pay Sky about $1000 a year. Screw that.

They are merrily seeding software out there in copyright theft land (the torrents, even though we’re all now shifting to “magnets” and if you want to know more you’ll have to buy a friendly geek a beer)

Remember how the Otago Rugby Union just sorta stopped paying rent to the council? Waikato too.
