  • Speaker: I too, am man,

    | I wish I was deep instead of just beautiful.

I'd settle for either of those.

I always wanted to be one of the idle rich. At least I made it half-way.

  • Speaker: Mixing it up, with stats like,

Google tells me that Bret with one t isn't an uncommon name - Bret Easton-Ellis for all you Psychos; Bret "the Hitman" Hart, for the wrestlemaniacs; Bret Wolfe, gay porn star, for, well, you know. They all appear above Bret McKenzie on the first page.

OTOH, Brent mostly consists of Brent Borough Council in Middlesex, and some grade of oil called Brent Crude (who might also be a gay porn star for all I know).

  • Hard News: Get a Clue,

My 5 year old's class have a class wiki that they can all update from home. All us crusty old parents were invited in to be shown what a wiki was and how to drive one.
How many news reporters (Damian excluded) are smarter than a 5 year old?

  • Hard News: Get a Clue,

but how many 35 year olds don't know who Keith Holyoake is? Most of them, I'd wager.

I'm 35, I know who Keith Holyoake was, I also know that arachnids are spiders and have 4 pairs of legs, and that a comet is larger than a meteor. I am therefore smarter than a 10 year old :-)
But looking at the nongs on that show, you'd generally win your wager.

If you're in Washington D.C. & throwing around a word like "niggardly" you are out of touch and have no place in power, irrespective of your intended use of the word.

You should also be fired for using words like country, Whakatane, whopper, pollywog, and any other words that have a bit in them that sounds vaguely like a completely different word that might be offensive to someone.

  • Speaker: It's On,

Its always nice to chalk up a win, but Italy were never going to be a real threat. As long as the team don't get overconfident after a few early walkovers.
Looking forward to some games that will make the ABs work a bit harder - not that working up a sweat seems to be hard there in the South of France, its like watching the first few games of the Super 14 , seems wrong, playing under blue summery skies.
Too many games like the Italy one could leave one and one's girlfriend in a coma.

  • Hard News: Geeky Thursday again,

Actually, apart from the metric assload of calories involved, there's nothing wrong with a Big Mac per se. The quality control at McDs is well honed, and better than you'd expect considering their employees are a bunch of disgruntled teens on minimum wage, or worse - disgruntled not-teens on minimum wage. Of course now they're assembing them to order, you have a slightly higher chance of a sneeze-burger if you actively insult the staff.

The main drawback of McDs is that its a bit like hooning around on one of those miniature pretend Harleys - great fun, but you wouldn't want anyone you know to see you doing it.
It serves the need, but it ain't real food.

For those just in from another thread, insert Starbucks comparison here.
