Gosh, I'm glad you explained. I thought you meant an aeroplane. Shades of SirPeterJackson!

    <sob>My work/email iMac G5 just died...

Commiserations! My G5 developed a nasty streak and had to be done away with. Un-fixable, they said. Cost more than a new machine, they said. If you could get the parts, etc.

    But I miss it so!

  • Hard News: Changes and appointments,

I despair of what's happening in RNZ. As the last one in the Auckland Drama Department, I was witness to the demoralizing effect of poor funding, the sinking-lid policy, and the panic created by the threat of more cuts and fewer staff. It was horrible.

Even now I find it nightmarish to even think about when I worked there. From having been a total joy when I started, to being a place I dreaded going to, is too sad to contemplate.

I think that without real effort from well-intentioned and well-informed people, the status of the publicly-owned - as opposed to what would be sneeringly used by private radio people: "State-owned, or Government-owned" - radio will be eroded further, until it will die a slow and lingering death; new listeners wondering why there was any fuss at all.

  • Hard News: My Mum and other good things,

My first post. I feel very brave.

When I watched the Movement video, I nearly fell off my chair! All those exercises - I knew them! And then the beater of the drum was shown. It was Madam, the women who used to take us for PhysEd at St Mary's College in Hill Street! She was a little older than in the film when she taught us, but to my teenage eyes she was very elderly. As I may seem to most of the posters here. But hey! I do so love this site - I've been reading it for ages now without posting.

And...my father was John, but called Jack. I was called Jacqueline because it was very unusual. Times do change.

Now, can I work out how to add my Gravatar? Hmmm.....
