Hard News: A cog in the Mediaworks machine, in reply to
In the 'Entertainment' section rather than 'Politics' ?

There was a group formed, back in the day, in Hamilton to protest the aerial spraying of Foray 48b for the Asian Gypsy Moth.
They fought long and hard...and lost.
Got hit with the costs.
I read a Hansard excerpt that basically said "they asked for it."
I really have to concentrate on other stuff right now...but will try and find it later.
This type of punitive action against citizens is a national shame...and is happening way too often. I don't know what it would take to a) make the wider community aware that it is happening, and b) stop the fuckers from doing this.
Craig is right....this is spite.

Hmmm...conflicted and vested interest anyone?
Had a bit of a battle against the Waikato Regional Council a few years ago...scrutinising the background of elected 'representatives' proved to be a depressing and dehumansing process.
I was following this wee battle and cheering the protagonists.
It would stick in my craw to pay the costs....but...?
Thank you for bringing this here...

Arrgh!!
There have been some very fine and able people on the case for access...including Gerry and Roger featured in this article...but the situation does not seem to improve.
I thought we had Laws?
Rights?
A Convention FFS!
Gerri Pomeroy finds using public transport in a wheelchair so stressful sometimes that she does a "trial run" the day before to make sure she will be able to get safely from A to B.
Ditto.
The CCS survey also found a common complaint was taxi drivers breaking the law by not collecting disabled people with guide dogs, or overcharging blind people because they can't see the meter, she said.
Roger Loveless agreed things needed to change, pointing out that even disabled people with access to a car did not have it easy.
Just the other day he was "blocked in" a hospital car park because someone parked next to his car and prevented him from using his side ramp.
...and we got a $21 parking ticket on a deserted side street in Hamilton on Sunday because (we think) the Parking Person failed to see the Permit on the dash.
Even exercising your right to participate in an organised protest action can be problematic.
We sometimes stand our ground...make a bit of a fuss...like NO Mobility Parking at the NASC the other day...but it is really a waste of time.
They want disabled people to stay home and be invisible.

Curioser and curioser!
However, Tom, just got your email and all sorted! Thanks.

When it comes to recipes, Roger’s been known to channel the spirit of Aunt Daisy.
Many thanks for that Mr. Wylie...we were in need of a good laugh. :-)

they’ve invited him to dinner:
What might be on the menu?
Slow cooked superannuitant?
Deep fried lean cuts of unemployed youth?
Lightly sauteed brain of has -been economic despot?

Thanks, Sacha, for planting that image in my brain....

Labour was caned by that media for it’s CGT
Again, Labour delivered the message poorly....
....and the media capitalised, to The Incumbent's benefit.
As a non voter, with no Party affiliations, I sometimes wonder if Labour is being sabotaged from within.
Just when they seem to be resonating...boom!

A world of paradox is complicated for the best of us; just imagine what it is like for a person who struggles with their thoughts?
Tom, the very sad reality is that the 'system' is designed to create confusion and insecurity.
Under the Public Health and Disability Act, and according to the Misery of Health
one may be eligible for services, but one is not entitled to anything.Being eligible gives a person a right to be considered for publicly funded health or disability services (ie, free or subsidised). It is not an entitlement to receive any particular service. Individuals need to meet certain clinical and other assessment criteria to receive many services.
bold mine

This is seriously, seriously f*#^ed up.
We need to find a way to change this.
