I was surprised to discover that TV is still commercial-free on Sunday mornings
Still no reason to get up early, Robyn. It doesn't prevent the broadcaster advertising its own crap.
Tried to watch The Aviator over Easter (at Mother in Law's, in the country, not much TV) and it was spoiled by a break every ten minutes to advertise Dancing with Fuckwits or something.

but I think if the last few years have proved anything, it's that fewer and fewer people want albums as such
I am trialling e-music (great! so far) and have to admit it goes against the grain to only download bits of an album. I have downloaded some stuff to get a flavour of it (Neko Case for example) but if I like the general feel & song quality I need to be a completist. Even the older albums I haven't heard in years (Pete Townsend & Ronnie Lane) I prefer the whole thing. I still see albums as a complete work of art perhaps, not an aggregation of songs.
I haven't bothered to look into the technical aspects of e-music yet, still findingmy way around their catalogue, which has taken some getting used to.

Yep, as I was watching Bones last night, with its incinerated corpse in a chandelier at the beginning, I had to wonder why I, or anybody else for that reason, was watching this, instead of Eva Longoria in her undies on the other channel.
My wife didn't really get my point.

Speaking of Presidents...there was something on Triangle TV last night about Presidential Libraries in the States and that Dubya's is under way. Struck me as odd that someone who doesn't appear to read much to have a library. Perhaps the Presidential copy of My Pet Goat forms the main part of the collection?

The Jefferies brothers really were on fire in the '80s - mid-'90s, weren't they?
My god, were they what. Even playing here in Auckland on occasion too! I saw Cake Kitchen at Waikato Uni, must have been 12 or more years ago, about the time that Far From the Sun came out. After playing for two hours (guitar and drums make a fantastic noise) they waited about an hour before playing an encore of about another hour.
I remember waiting for months to get hold of that and Electricity on vinyl

Sorry, history geek here. Casar subjugated Gaul to build his political capital back in Rome. He did make forays into Germany & Britain at the time as well. He would have crossed the Rhine to get into the German lands.
He crossed the Rubicon when he decided to march on Rome ("the die is cast") to ensure he wasn't prosecuted on his return by jealous rivals, thus precipitating the Civil War.
