I'm remembering a time I had what I thought was relevant information regarding the movement of a group of guys who had apparently been involved in an abduction and gang rape, only to meet with complete indifference from the investigating detective when I rang her to offer what I knew.

Morning Report says police now admit there have been 4 complaints, all from girls between 13 and 15, since 2011. I have no words. (that wouldn't risk defamation)
It might be defamatory to suggest active corruption here, but the only other reasonable explanation is gross negligence. I know which explanation seems more likely to me at the moment.

It stayed like that for ages, but recently I discovered the audio has since been muted. Which just makes the video look really weird (and also makes me want to replace the soundtrack with something even weirder).

Very true. He wouldn't be the first "filmmaker" in this town to offer someone "a share of the profits" on a film that will never make its production costs back.

I believe the offer of a porn role was mentioned in the Herald yesterday too. But the figure he quotes...anyone with even a passing familiarity of the economics of the porn industry in Auckland (ahem) realises that figure is ludicrous. Either Cook is exaggerating for effect, or he really has no idea what he's doing.

As someone with a name that many with a Niu Zilun ecksunt can turn into an Enochian invocation, I feel a certain amount of sympathy for Mr Wewege. Not the emotional manipulation, lying, arrogance, venality or stupidity, mind; but the name thing must be an irritant on top of everything else.

Fair call, although I would hope that concern for the opinions of WhaleOil readers isn't a significant part of the PM's thought processes when making public pronouncements. The Kiwiblog commentary on the nuts and bolts of the background disputes doesn't seem to be nearly as detailed, as far as I can tell.

I don't have much time for Key as a general rule, but his restrained, mature reaction to this palaver has been exceptional, especially when every other person and their dog felt the need to snicker and snark. I don't know if the suggestions of shutting down a National party shitfight are even necessary: most people don't even register when party officials/boosters start sniping at each other, especially not on Facebook.

Given how spectacularly this thing has blown up in everyone's face, I'd hope people think twice before trying this kind of crap in the future.
I know I'm being overly generous to the humanity and capacity for learning of some of the participants, but I can hope.
I imagine there have been some terse conversations between the two Slaters in the last week.
