  • Hard News: Do Want?,

Personally, I've been a satchel kind of guy for the last decade and a half.

I see this device as a great reason to go bag-hunting again. Crumpler here I come.

The more I contemplate, the more I think this thing is positioned to fill a brand exposure gap rather than a functionality gap.

They're going to stand out like sore thumbs, where iPhones tend to be hidden in people's hands.

  • Hard News: Do Want?,

    Yes, do want. Here's why:

The idea of low-power, long-lasting netbooks has been pestering me for a while, but I just couldn't justify running Windows on a cut-down platform when I use a grunty desktop and laptop anyway.

I'm an iPhone user and truly appreciate Apple's attention to user experience. Just look at the way the iPhone has absolutely murdered Symbian, Blackberry and Windows Mobile without some "important" features like multitasking, copy-paste, and expandable storage.

I see the iMaxiPad the same way: what it lacks in features it will make up for many times over in user experience.

And I want to keep up with the cool kids.

  • Busytown: For the (broken) record,

On PA System, more than any other website, I carefully pick my words and phrases when writing comments. The calibre of the participants, let alone the writers themselves, is daunting.

So please understand my utter sincerity when I say:

Holy Fucking Shit that was a Good Post.

  • OnPoint: From the floor of the Tax…,

The most interesting thing about Gareth Morgan's idea is how it highlights the complete lack of Capital (gains or otherwise) tax in The Don's proposal.

I guess he (Brash) is a bit blinkered by the size of his own portfolio?

  • Southerly: A Nightmarish Moment,

That Gracewood woman is incorrigible. I recall a similar event at the closing party for a certain Wellington web conference.

I was in attendance, but apparently my phone battery was flat and she urgently needed to contact her brother, so of course the solution (suggested by the bouncer, falling foul of her wily charms), was for her to enter the event to find him.

  • OnPoint: Taskforce 2025: A Space Odyssey,

The one great thing that has come out of this is a word-of-the-year candidate from Twitter:

    Re-brash (verb): to re-hash failed right-wing policies.

  • Hard News: Party Time, Excellent,

We're discussing an epic comment, and the beer sponsor who's just come aboard for the Great Blend is ... Epic.

Oh crap. Can someone monitor my intake of Epic Pale Ale prior to speaking please? That stuff is my kryptonite.

I vote yes for nametags, but just because I tend to forget names about halfway through the second sentence of talking to someone new. Seriously.

  • Hard News: Party Time, Excellent,

Damn. I think I conveniently glossed over the fact that Ignite was doubling as a Great Blend.

I fear I may need to raise the brow-ness of my talk.
