Goff sounded like a wronged man dining out on cold, sweet revenge.

KDC thinks not.
I will be curious to see if any paper here re-publishes that story, or if the implicit pro-government self censorship of our media that has held sway for the last six years keeps it away from Kiwi eyes lest it contaminate their minds ahead of the election.

Hard News: Never mind the quality ..., in reply to
No one takes these people seriously EXCEPT the New Zealand Herald, whose first instinct when they’re looking for a right-wing columnist is to find another hateful, deranged libertarian headcase.
See Russell Brown above:
you know what else drives traffic? Angry political conflagrations
Hateful, deranged nutcases generate clicks. The problem we've got is we don't have a quality newspaper in NZ, just tabloids masquerading as pint-sized broadsheets.

And on TVNZ, someone appears to have failed the basics of Roman numerals.
I predicted disaster from day one when they introduced that new fangled whole numeral approach to learning Roman numbers. Back in my day, you were beaten for III weeks if you couldn't recite the year of first publication of Keat's poems in Latin before writing it flawlessly and without hesitation on the blackboard.

one of the jaw-droppers from the Espiner/Key interview was the PM (Minister for SIS) revealing/claiming that he doesn’t trouble himself – his ’desk” – with OIA requests about the SIS.
Key has nothing but contempt for the habits and minutae of democratic governance. How many more examples do we need to conclude he sees running a country as simply a promotion from managing a trading floor, where the values of the Wolves of Wall Street prevail?
From the tone of Espiner's interview I would guess Espiner has read the book over the weekend. Like Danyl, Russell Brown, and Andrew Geddis he sounds like he was disgusted by what he read. Key's blithe dissembling clearly outraged him.

Espiner was furious about something!

Hard News: Dirty Politics, in reply to
I see Slater is going into his grab bag of diversions he deploys when he is feeling the heat and claiming he has had death threats. Poor widdle Cam, he is the real victim here!

Which is one of their avowed aims.
The actual aim is the overthrow of democracy, and it's replacement with a plutocracy with a charade of democracy.

David Farrar is now claiming to have been hacked because two phone-polling scripts used by Curia are quoted in the book.
David Farrar spends much of his time acting as the acceptable face and apologist for all the various hard right exponents of US Republican style attack politics including Lusk, his Taxpayers Union mate Williams and in his constant championing of Slater. it is pretty rich to condone a style of politics that makes every aspect of your opponents lives a legitimate free-fire zone, then cry like a baby when you suspect the other side might have started shooting back.

while we are on the topic of Whaleoil's cash for copy, perhaps during one of his phone hook-ups someone in the media ought to also ask Cameron Slater if he writes all of his sycophantically pro-Israeli posts on Whaleoil, is he getting paid for them by the Israeli government, why exactly is he going to Israel, and who is paying for his trip there?
