There isn't a single song on here that I don't genuinely enjoy.

I find it really difficult to hate. Nothing on the pop charts affects me enough to inspire great negative emotion, and since I live in a post-radio bubble anything frequent is my own now. Those months when I’m back in Auckland my loathing is frequently directed at the buffoons bFM and George see fit to fill the gaps between songs with during morning and drive slots. Good people I’m sure, but absolutely unlistenable.
What bothers me, however, is hearing bad drumming. It itches and scratches, in all the wrong ways. I blame 15 years affected by hip-hop, jazz, afro-beat, pop, various electronic genres, and Radiohead. The consequence has been to take a lot of the joy from live music, which can rarely compete… my loss.
ETA: Thanks Hebe, bagpipes. My ancestors have a lot to answer for.

Norman’s position seems fairly consistent except inasmuch as he’s failed to articulate previous levels of disdain for the NZ, Aussie and US security apparatus.
Well, to be fair, that was usually Keith Locke’s job, and he was pretty consistent about it. If he was fronting this issue with Norman it would probably sound more reasonable.
The details of this? They’re too technical for me; I have to depend entirely on the knowledge of others, knowledge I’m unable to evaluate. I hope Gareth Hughes is working with sound sources, and he is then able to counsel his leader on broad principles. The politics isn’t particularly complex or hard to understand, but the truth of the matter seems so.

Just dropping this here: Kendrick Lamar feat Gunplay – Cereal and Cartoons. Big, crunchy, and way too deep.

What a pity I didn't get to say that hello! I arrived in the rain, a little before 6, to find wonderfully large crowds at the Town Hall. Anyone who was there wouldn't be surprised to know that many, including myself, missed out.
It all worked out even though, I met someone who'd also missed entry, and we had a wonderful night. Excellent people attend such events.

This morning's Herald has a major feature about NZ's illegal bike gangs. (It's not what you think).

Tomorrow. Don't let me forget it.

I like this thread. I often discover music months or years after the wave has passed; it’s still good music.
John Talabot sends shivers down me. He’s good:
Last year’s Metals, by Feist was terribly overlooked, so I’m throwing it in here. In a better world, it’d be heralded as a classic:
And Bobby Womack has a new album upcoming. That in itself should be enough. But the crisp modern production means it’s warm honey on chunky buttery goodness. I’m looking forward to this.
And as of this evening, I’m in love with Grimes. Thanks.
(That this has less than a million views is simply criminal, in this day and age).

Anyone who misses this (without good reason) deserves a damn good spanking and coal for Xmas.

A bit late to this, but I have to say; dear lord that's a lot of goodness you've piled on for us Russell. Spoiled.
