Thanks, although we don't claim any credit for the design (which I happen to like BTW). I probably need to say here I don't speak for Fairfax at all, just trying to make sure the tech side is as solid as we can get it and of course there is nothing like real user experience to help with that.
However, if you want to email me offline we could discuss screen readers.

Now just sign here, here, just-under-this-bit-about-first-born-something-or-other, here annnnnnd here.
I do love contract negotiations, especially the bit where people say "oh, don't worry about that clause, we'll never use it". To which the answer is, "In that case, remove it".

Any ideas?
We broke the RSS feeds. Not deliberately. We will have them up and running asap. Apologies for that.

Giovanni - you changed your shirt?
(thanks for the feedback BTW).

Lots. Can you email me with your problems, browser, platform, ISP etc?
Giovanni - ditto.

And for once, I've got to agree with Don.
Eh, steady on Craig. It has happened before.
Actually, I think Islander and I agreed. She wasn't demanding DRM like controls on text readers. We both were pointing out that if Amazon are going to make a killing out of folks work they should pay the royalties due.
I may be putting words in Islander's mouth here (hope not) but I think our positions on Copyright are very similar. Over the weeks and months we have debated the issue the only *real* difference I see has been around the ongoing extension of Copyright term. But that's another topic. And that's why I'd love to see a guest post from Islander on this subject.

The question really is: What the hell is such a minor kerfuffle
Someone probably wants to get rid of him. Is he a Labour appointee?
-
the latter is percieved as a battle really well worth fighting if only because we suspect there is much more in the pipeline.
Islander, that's fine. If you want to shake more money out of Amazon and Google be my guest.
BUT, don't let your representatives take this down yet another blind DRM/Copyright extension type alley. That helps no-one and that is what we are beginning to see.
-
Islander - yep, that was a joke. My position is this...
If Amazon are making money out of a service specifically relating to an author's work the author should be compensated.
If, however, you are talking about preventing distributing software because it happens to be able to read text on a computer I am vehemently opposed.

I should also say, that Judith Tizard now seems to be totally undermining the efforts of the Labour party, Clare Curren and Trevor Mallard especially, to resolve this issue.
It will be interesting to see what happens if she comes in off the list to replace Cullen (surely that wouldn't happen).
