Well let's get pedantic, nobody has had a job for life at bfm, so far. :)

Another point, I have always liked bfm breakfast, even the dipsy lady whose name I can't remember, and, don't think she was well known before her show.. It hasn't really been about the host, it's been about the show and all the marvelous contributions from all involved on the day. But, Mikey does make me laugh out loud and go an' wake t'other half up to tell him something he said. I think it's Mikey's stream of consciousness that reverbs on a basic level for anyone to feel at home, included without being scrutinised if one wants to contribute. Text, email, phone in, all welcome. I like that.

Yes I did get it wrong, stand corrected. Thinking about your comment on MH tardiness, I was reminded of a comment I heard the other day by 2 20 year olds when, having been given some work through their uni break and having been desperate for an earn said, "Oh I wont work tomorrow, it's Saturday"
Yeah, I know expectations an' all require a respect of the starting time and absolutely agree with your comment about, punctuality in such an important slot is expected and for those listeners off to work, still, I would have sorted the problem along time before if I had an issue.
An example could be this: My man had a problem getting to work at 6am whilst working on a movie (he had no car). Each morning someone designated would locate his whereabouts and pick him up and deliver him on time to work. I only discovered this the other day and thought "that's a bit spoilt", but, on reflection, his ability to do his job was valuable enough to facilitate, and easy enough to enact. I also note that Mikey's tardiness has had an effect on others on the b. John Key doesn't show up at all sometimes for his weekly update. ;)

Drive has been an excellent development space in the past few years, and they're throwing that away. One Drive show with Mikey (which is what I had hitherto taken to be the plan) would have been cool. Taking out all the other Drive shows is not cool.
Surely the reasoning is to extend the listenership. Yep Drive is a development space but by moving it and increasing the time slot is opening up more space for development and letting Mikey do afternoons, well that pleases alot of us and gives him ample time to get to work, placating those who have a problem with his tardiness.
I found it interesting that his punctuality was annoying to some, when it then became obvious that those people must really want more of his wit or they wouldn't be critisizing him not being there early enough. I for one like that his timing and personality is anarchistic and I for one will move my listening to 4pm and sleep in until 9 happily. I think b is the best radio and it's innovative style has encouraged other stations to open the waves up to what works.Jus' sayin' :) -
