The technology used by Whoosh is very different from the technology used by TNZ & VFNZ.
Part of the reason is that the technology to deliver Mobile serivice is more expensive that the technology to provide staionary services.More expensive because of more cell sites.
More cell sites = more customers.
XT is UMTS over WCDMA as is Woosh. The difference in technology is minimal but the difference in data charges is huge. -
I have OpenOffice at home. It's by no means equivalent to MS Office - maybe 75%, with no features that MS don't provide that I've been able to find. As soon as I can find some sort of semi-hookey MS license, I'm going back to MS.
Open Office runs on Windows too, as well you know and I would be surprised if your 75% figure is anywhere near accurate. Open Office will save documents in formats that can be read by Microsoft Office or any other Office application. In terms of saving the country money I don't think "some sort of semi-hookey MS license" is an option I would like to see our Govt. adopt.

Here's a Proper question.
Can I port my prepay number to XT? -
Just worked out what was wrong with that Geekzone FAQ link -- it was missing a character.
It's here.
I was expecting to find a web page with just one character on it. That would have appealed to my stupid sense of humor.
:-)
Anyhoo. Can somebody explain how Woosh can provide a broadband service over WCDMA and UMTS (all be it patchy due to the low number of cell sites) that is very competitive to land-line based offerings, when the big players Voda & Telecom charge like wounded bulls for the same tech. -
Man that's cynical.
Yeah, having to read the drivel from the likes of Crampton, Dexter and Bird have that effect on me.
I didn't mean to cast aspersions on your trustworthiness. I'll have you know that I hold lawyers in high esteem, honest.

Thanks Heather.
Its just that it seems so sick to me but then that's just how I felt last time I heard More FM. -
Or how about.
"Auckland, like a lot of other cities but on a peninsular on the North Island of New Zealand"
Or
"Auckland. Closed for reorganisation and staff training"
Or
"Auckland, wanna score some infrastructure?" -
And this response to an ill-conceived More FM promotion was just a nice thing to do.
Yes it does sound "nice" but do you have any evidence of even the existence of such a competition and if so, what the outcome was? because the only thing I can find is your Scoop story. I would have thought a stunt like this would have hit the MSM at some point but it looks like just a family First media plant.

Oh that's easy. You grab one guard by the neck, hold your dagger to his throat, and explain that he can point out the right door, no pissing about, and he comes with you.
The problem with you intellectuals is that you're always overcomplicating things.
Stephen. That is just so Grant Dexter.

Oh. and the Jig saw puzzle, which wasn't really a Jig saw puzzle cos, like they have, like lots of pieces and don't bother with the bits of paper cos I wasted most of Saturday night before I remembered the ancient and long forgotten art of trig. Or whatever it was called back then.
:-( -
Oh, thank you Dyan. I can see me spending the rest of the day with bits of cut up paper and massive hair loss.
