  • Hard News: What we have really lost,

    I look forward

I look back on this Government and see the same Nat attitude as them last time. I reckon Key thinks money makes the world go round. No shit Sherlock! you may say. So far, money policies makes him a popular man. One policy gets the funding and everyone tells a cuddly story.
Bit of money had to go on leaky buildings (24,000 with Lawyers, at least) this week, Budget week. How could one balance the books. Take from one so it goes to another?
I think most of the Maori Party have held out for Whanau Ora. It is lots of money for whatever, but it gives all Maori a chance to do it their way .
Then Tariana's personal quest, that of "pay because you're a smoker". The rest of the support has often been what appears to be naive, but slowly, slowly has proven many a time to work for Maori, e.g if you have the opportunity to experience the Marae and it's people, the knowledge of that is the wisdom, just that, the Mana and how easy it becomes to fully support the return of the land to the fully support this wrong.rightful owners. Tuhoe. Jus' sayin'
The Maori Party must support Tuhoe, that is what their voters want, I am sure.(guessing)

My original point point was that I disagreed with Russell's post.

I know. Will still express my sorrow, which is about guardianship and forgiveness, that has been religated to yet again, another time ( I hope Islander :) Carry on Cecelia (was that a movie?) :) Don,t mind me.

  • Hard News: What we have really lost,

Although I'm not a national voter, there might be a rich vein of other voters who would hate to see a change of ownership ...

You reckon Tuhoe thought that about the change of ownership in the 1800's? Or dont they matter? It was theft, thought that was against the law, then and now.

I want them to have justice. OTOH, I feel very uneasy about messing with the status of a national park.

This is the common "I want you to have justice, just as long as it doesn't interfere with what I want" justice.

Pretty much also Not In My Back Yard. At least if the Crown wants some of your back yard they will happily compensate for land acquired. I would be extremely annoyed if the Crown chose to steal my bit of land so understand the immense frustration that Tuhoe must be feeling right now and ever since it was stolen off them. I'd feel much better if the Ureweras was given back to it's rightful guardians.

  • Cracker: Cup of Tea and a new Electoral System,

cannibalism' thing was a media beat up

I suggest Key et al have an unsophisticated (ie intelligent :)
weak, pointless sense of humour which, is powerful because, a gaffe is a gaffe and newsworthy. Shit, look at the papers today and a large majority are spouting crap. Key always exposes himself to be right there for a photo, Maybe now we want some sense of consideration and understanding. What Key et al did (i'm sure he read his speech before he sent the insult, even if he didn't write it) was heartless, inconsiderate and outright rude. For what? Pointless. I always thought he was out of touch.

  • Hard News: Rousing Auckland,

I'd also note that Banks and Brown are, formally or not, going to be headlining tickets -- and I'd certainly like to know what they're about.

Here is a take from Matt McCarten

  • Cracker: Cup of Tea and a new Electoral System,

the comments were way better than I expected.

Must admit I got thru page 6 without feeling angry, but still miffed that that piece was quite powerful in explaining the intense relationship that Tuhoe have and some with comments such as dont be greedy. Wtf?

  • Cracker: Cup of Tea and a new Electoral System,

There were some passionate commentators in that thread Sofie, who were Tuhoe, and they were moderate..

Yes indeed the moderates were Tuhoe! Nuff respect. The rest were paranoid, or ignorant or ill informed and stupid enough to believe the hype. That is what is embarrassing as non maori, and man am I a passionate New Zealander, Mexican, with US and kiwi citizenship.
I'm not the brightest wee thing on the planet but I can figure some of this shit out and the rest of anyone out there can join the chorus :) These Nats rely so much on opinion polls. I will be adding my opinion to all of them.
