  • Hard News: Ideology for Evidence,

As a strong and confident young woman, she gives him the blow-off.

I hope to hell no one misreads or misunderstands that sentence...

  • Hard News: Ideology for Evidence,

The whole thing strikes me as a sop to not only National's core supporters, but more specifically as a sop to their right-wing and ACT.
Clearly these morons don't know their history: the ECA went down like a cup of cold sick, yet they insist on bringing aspects of it back again, in effect.

It'll be interesting to see how this affects the opinion polls, too.

  • Hard News: Wanna Route?,

I'm a runner and now and again find myself on the same course as cyclists (forestry tracks, Dunedin's "green belt", metal roads on the outskirts of the city, etc).

Most of the time this presents no problems. However, sometimes a cyclist can speed past you from behind with no warning. You can't hear them coming and I suspect cyclists assume runners can.

This is dangerous and has led to several near misses and a couple of nasty "nose-to-tail" accidents.

If you're a cyclist please yell out "cyclist behind" if you're approaching a runner or runners from behind and we'll happily move out of the way.

Don't get me wrong, I like cyclists, but it gives you the shits when a mountain bike whizzes past you just inches away without warning.

  • Hard News: The Munter and the Munted,

I'm only really here to answer Grant's music question - if it's the same song we used in the episode (and I'm pretty sure it is) it is The Veils "Sit Down by the Fire". We love The Veils at OF.

Yes, that's it ! Thank you. Thanks for using some songs by the L.E.D.s last year, too.

James, please pat youself and everyone involved with Outrageous Fortune on the back for me, it's been a real pleasure to watch.

  • Cracker: P is for Politics.,

I don't think Simon Prast should run our new Super City. And now, as a result of his own forthrightness, it's almost certain he won't.

Regardless of the P use, I don't think he stands a shit-show anyway.Obviously he's a mover 'n' shaker in the arts / theatre scene, but he's got no political experience and no profile outside of the arty-farty scene. Plus, I doubt he's got the oodles of dosh needed for an extensive publicity campaign.

  • Hard News: The Munter and the Munted,

Can anyone tell me the name of the song being used in one of the promo clips ?
It's the promo with a shot of a bonfire and a shot of Judd alone in bed, not the promo with the mortuary scene and Cheryl's voice-over.

It's a very beautiful, haunting song, that's for sure. I assume it's by an NZ artist ?

  • Hard News: Party central is hurting my head,

If the gov't and Auckland local body politicans can't organise a party venue for the RWC, just imagine how utterly inept they'd be were John Bank's deluded dream of Auckland staging the Olympics ever be green-lighted. It'd be hilarious.

  • Hard News: Fear, authority and ... Judy Bailey?,

the paper of the fearful and underachieving middle class breathlessly reports on things that give you cancer, from soup to sun cream. And sometime, things that cure cancer.

Are you sure you're not confused with the Listener ?
