Hard News: Crowded houses, in reply to
The wee minion in the bowels of the Beehive who pushes the kill button for Natrad was at it again.
That was weird. While I don't want to contribute to any conspiracy theory, the sound didn't cut out abruptly... it was faded out by someone. Much strangeness.

I wonder if Messrs Hosking, Williams, Henry and Smith have invested in a new business venture?
Messers Cesspool, Sewer and Associates
Excremental blockages eliminated, manure spread liberally...That's a very good piece from Vernon Small.

Polity: Is being a tax haven worth it?, in reply to
Mr Wodehouse would undoubtedly approve. ;-)

Speaker: Are we seeing the end of MSM,…, in reply to
...doesn’t even present serious processing difficulties...
While it may be O'K semantically, to me it's reads clumsily at best. But maybe I'm just being a pedant?

Of... by... they're interchangeable words, aren't they? We need to do something about those damn screens using children, according to this morning's Herald.

The Colin Craig Show keeps running in the background. In what appears to be a rather vast fishing trip forming part of his ongoing defamation cases (plural) against John Stringer, he applied to the courts to compel Vodafone to release all emails sent to or from Stringer's email accounts between November 1, 2014 and February 26, 2016.

Winston Peters gave a pro-Brexit speech in the House of Lords yesterday after being invited by a UKIP peer. While some may question the wisdom of aligning oneself with the UK's anti-imigration nutter party, the Sunday Express went a step further... and promoted Winnie to PM of New Zealand.
Maybe they know something the rest of us don't.

While TPP discussion seems to have died down and none of the US Presidential candidates support it, our government is still proceeding down the path of handing over our sovereignty to kangaroo courts of US lawyers to the benefit of multi-national corporations.
Canadian professor Gus van Haarten is visiting NZ and warning us about the dangers of investor-State dispute settlements (ISDS)
Trade Minister Todd McClay, best known now for his role in scrapping the IRD investigation into dubious offshore trusts after lobbying from the PM's personal (non) lawyer, keeps talking about the "huge economic benefits" of the TPP while ignoring the very real risks involved.
Prof van Haarten points out that under the NAFTA agreement, Canada has become the fifth most sued country in the world. Here's a comprehensive study of the 77 known NAFTA investor-state dispute settlement claims up to January 1 2015.
The list of Cases Filed Against the Government of Canada under ISDS provisions makes for chilling reading.
Canada has lost or settled six claims paying a total of $170 million in damages, while Mexico has lost five cases and paid out $204 million. The U.S.,meanwhile, has won 11 cases and has never lost a NAFTA investor-state case.
The bill to ratify the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement successfully passed its first reading on Thursday backed by National, Act and United Future.

Hard News: Friday Music: Got Knox?, in reply to
We did get Charlie Brooker's excellent Black Mirror series on Sky with its magical premonition of Prime Minister Pig-Fucker, but that's pretty much it. British tele is still the least worst in the world and it's a pity we don't see more of it here.
While I have some excellent memories of Chris Knox from his Dunedin days and edited all of his early videos, sadly I don't have any of his graphic material. Good luck with the project Ian et al... Chris's contribution to kiwi culture deserves to be recorded for posterity.
