  • Hard News: Strange times with Starboy,

I wrote a quick fire profile on him when BZP and such were on the rise and he struck me as an oddly sincere, screw ball who was also his own worst enemy.
that whole alter ego of his was very much a work in progress, mostly limited to white suits and bling so I was tempted to check out that bizarro rock opera of his to see how he'd turned out.
wish I had really, I've never met the likes before or since - apart from maybe that bloke who used to go out with Aja Rock - and I'm still not sure if he's a cartoon gangster with delusions of drug lord-dom or a bloke who took too much LDS at Berkeley and forgot to leave the party.
the tax bizzo doesn't surprise me in the slightest either.

  • Hard News: Friday Music: The Soft…,

this isn't helping discussion at all, but I can't say I've paid any attention what so ever to the charts since I was a young fulla watching Ready to Roll.

still, it might be interesting to know how many people make musical decisions based on where a track is charting. I'd have thought peers and such would still be far more important. especially at a young age.

cool, and yeah man, that's the badger. Tami kicked it off and set about tearing things up beautifully until he charged in over the top and tore the roof off. hairs on end stuff.

  • Hard News: Friday Music: Summer in the Winter,

Marlon was my last profile at the Herald. I met a lot of wannabes in my time but he has genuine star quality. Top bloke with it too. Hands up anyone who caught the church tour where he duetted a hymn with Tami N. Crazy good.

That Cedric's pretty fine even if the envelope cover is a pain in the arse.

And just cos, I found one of my longtime grails this week, Percy Faith's Black Magic Woman. The strings can be a bit much for some, but taihoa for the groovy keys...

  • Hard News: Ali, in reply to Rich Lock,

nah man, this was the 70s, think more twee, upscaled versions of your trad Lockwood home with driveways featuring a turning circle - that was the height of posh - and more than one chimney.
much more likely to be home to fondue key parties.

I asked my parents to park across the road for a bit to see if they checked their mail in their wrestling costumes, but their thirst for the truth didn't match mine.
