1. even if you weren't tuned into national radio the airwaves would leave a slimy, greasy and slightly acrid coating over everything they touched

"innocence by denial"
surely innocence by denial can only follow on from guilt by accusation? surely the best standard remains innocent until proven guilty...
but I agree with the point of Graeme's post. It seems like the Nats have just swept in and started doing whatever the hell they feel like under urgency. hopefully this will backfire on them later in their first term, 'cause it surely pisses a lot of people off...

"Analogously, a bartender is required by liquor laws to stop serving anyone they believe to be drunk."
but can't do anything about them walking into another bar...

when I get kicked off teh internetz, do I still have to pay my ISP for it? if I'm locked into a contract?
so the ISP is now, for free, providing a service to "copyright holders" to disconnect their own customers which will result in a loss of revenue to them?
and they can then simply sign up to a new ISP?
"simple" solution, an ISP simply begins repackaging their services under a few different shell companies, instead of disconnecting their customers they offer to transfer them to another ISP on the same terms, and back and forth and so on...

Quick note on the Key ad: a poll of my flat showed that the general first thought was "but if he's in the passenger seat, who's driving?". Subtext Fail.

Isn't it a fact that their brains aren't fully formed at that age? Aren't they hormonally confused at that age?
so your hormones play a role in your voting habits?
I think including young people in the electoral process would have nothing but positive effects in terms of increasing electoral participation and awareness in the population overall. by the time people are 18 it is often too late to engage them in the process and currently there is little in the way of education about our political system.
I don't deny the dangers of political marketing to children, but we've coped with that in other areas. with a good education program I think it could work.

"Again, 15 year olds also have interests, and also need representation. Where do you draw the line?"
if the maori can have maori seats, how about a seperate electorate for youth interests? that could make the political landscape really interesting. say 3 or 4 MPs representing those aged 12 to 18?
could engage young people in politics before they hit 18 and are too cynical to vote

These people are trying to put a bit of gloss on a very big turd
or is mr Brownlee trying to smear a bit of brown stuff all over some fairly unalarming information?
