One of the reasons I became a good fishnchip cook* was I had to drive for an hour to get any locally. And the 2 outlets were uniformly crap

See living in the city means I walk 100 metres around the corner and get fresh fish, or wait for our friend to visit with his Paella pan after a days fishing. We really are quite spoilt for choice in Ak.
But more and more the smaller towns are thinking about the choices we all want with regards food, it is happening.

Either that or I'm being utterly naive in assuming you actually are talking about a purveyor of processed meat products.

All the shops in the old stables in Elliot St in the city are boutique shops of quality, from the whiskey to the ice cream and yes, sausages. Also a number of food venues ( Spanish, French, umm others like sausages maybe German) that have combined seating throughout the old stables. It really is a very special little corner of the city

You could set up a Facebook group!

    ;-)

I'm just hitting the same pub, same time, same day, rain or shine, no planning required really, just turn up if ya feel like it.Neighbour hood bar in Kingsland is the one with outdoor seating at the front. Ok that's my plan :-)

What I recall suggesting was a simple meetup every month or two at a suitable establishment and whoever was available would turn up.

We do Thursdays 6pm onwards in Kingsland. It even has a shiny new train station. Seem to remember telling a few of you. But the neighbourhood bar in Kingsland has an outdoor fireplace which we often get and an indoor library room for quieter time and a dj when the evening moves on.The invitation stands always to anyone interested. (and the pizza is good)

But the beer shop has gone. With a fantastic range of beer ,I might add. Has anything taken it's place? It would have been perfect at the wine tasting table. That's totally a session room that once was.

Was thinking about the evening as a whole, not necessarily reflecting on your good self being a hologram which would definitely work . I guess we could just get you up here for one Islander.I'm sure we could get RB to work you into the programme for the next one.He has this way... :)

What RB does is unique and I firmly believe that is what makes it so successful. The fact that people make the effort to contribute or attend is the icing on his cake.An example being Malcolm Ibell's love of his job, his ability with stage management, allowing us all to realise the benefit of being in the Wintergarden and the distance Geoff Lealand was prepared to travel to be there and help too. Russell's choice of activities on the night is far beyond what other event organisers would/could ever think of and I think it's this diversity is why it's so great.Any other gathering without Russell input would not have the flavour he can achieve. Just as this is his lounge, so too this is his party. Nothing compares.Jus' sayin'

I guess it's the getting people there, isn't it? It's something to think about. I am just incredibly greedy.

Jackie, what you want sounds more like a biggish entre/ cocktail party. Now that would only require a large space for dining and pot luck menu with byo could make it relatively cheap to set up.I think that would be a setting conducive to your greedy desires.Anyone got a large dining room? ;)
