A Jimmy Choo is worth a thousand words?
I can buy a novel for $30 and The Herald (shudder) for less. And last I heard authors got some fraction of a cent a word.
Say .25 cents a word means an average Jimmy Choo is worth about 275000 words!
And something more extreme is worth 1.3 million words

Um no. That is NOT what she said and you shouldn't pretend that is what she said and then argue against that. That is poor discussion technique and does not advance the exchange of ideas.
Women should be allowed to wear whatever the hell they like when they go out and it should not be considered their fault if they are assaulted.
Specifically wearing sexy clothes to a bar does not give any man the right to harass or abuse a women. The clothing may invite a polite enquiry but a negative response should end the encounter.
It is simply not the woman's fault if a man behaves like as ass.
We are not talking about me (very European) going into Sth central LA and yelling the N word which is what you are pretending we are saying here.

There's been lots of stuff done on why stilleto heels are sexy from changing calf muscle shape to changing the the way the bum moves. Whatever the biology is it works for me and I heartily encourage you to spend your dollars on them :).
Jolisa talked about phases of fashion and I think some of it stems from our inherently tribal nature. Tribes or packs conform to reinforce the community bonds, so conforming to a fashion makes sense from the perspective of communicating to your friends that you are "part of the same pack". When fashion changes not changing with the fashion communicates that you are not of the same pack and so "last years jacket" looks wrong this year even though it looked right last year.
What happens when your wear fashions from 10 years ago is that you communicate to the pack that you are older and more experienced and hence "wiser".
Regarding the effect and role of advertising on fashions, I just read Pattern Recognition by William Gibson which is a interesting view of what advertising and trend setting might be like.

You'd also be freaked out if they announced the pilot has done his practice with the radio controlled planes and this will be his first go with with big ones...
And you'd also be freaked out if you discovered I was doing your surgery, Dr Janssen will be doing your vasectomy, his extensive knowledge of plant genomes will guide him through this task ...
So it is interesting that instead of freaking out that our guys are not being taught that harassment/assault/rape is bad...
We send a message to women to avoid inciting said ill-trained males. And some women think it's OK to reinforce that message.It's misplaced responsibility. As a society we fail to train our males and we place the responsibility on those with vaginas to cope with the result. Instead we should insist on properly trained males.

It's about control. It feels very much like you have no control over the perpetrator so the reaction is to try and take control of your own actions.
It's the same reason more folks are afraid of flying than driving, because when you fly someone else is in control and when you drive you are in control.In both cases the feeling (while real) is wrong. It is not safer to drive and it is not the responsibility of the victim to change.
