  • Hard News: Media Take: The creeping…, in reply to Sacha,

Sacha, it is always an expert tactical move, to shift people that "may" get into "trouble" into new "competency areas", so to make them look like improving and enhancing their careers.

The "clutter" they may have left behind is conveniently shifted into the background, by putting the focus onto the NEW job.

So I take your argument to a point, but it is not sufficiently convincing.

Does anybody wonder now, why Paula Benefit did suddenly want to move to have other "portfolios"? It is blatantly obvious, that her inexcusable conduct as Minister was going to get back to her and haunt her, in that MSD portfolio at least.

Paula must have thought: "Hey, this is getting over my head now, shit will hit the fan, I better opt out". And then she asked: "Hey, John, I'd really like another job, have you one for me?" And John answered, sensing the problems to come, "hey, yes, there is always a new job for you, dear Paula, you have served us well, getting all those "bludgers" scared to death, so we will be able to throw more of them off benefits, I will look after you."

We now know the rest of the story, and Paula Benefit should be hunted down, for her responsibilities, while she enjoys (so far) another easier, sweet job on the front bench, hiding behind second up, Blinglish!

Where is the damned "media" in this country, where are they? They are NOT doing their damned jobs!

Within the circles I move in, abuse of the OIA is "standard" practice. It may also have been difficult to get some info out of government departments and ministries under the last Labour government, but it has certainly been MUCH, MUCH worse since 2008.

While MSD used to be reasonable with answering most requests, it got shockingly worse under the ministerial "oversight" of Paul Bennett (aka "Beneshit").

There has been little revealed re the evaluation of welfare reforms, re actual job figures, and who moves onto or off benefits.

You may recall these posts on this blog:

    http://publicaddress.net/speaker/how-is-government-evaluating-its-welfare/

    http://publicaddress.net/speaker/1600-beneficiaries-moving-into-work-each/

Parliament's session today was rather revealing, as PM John Key was trying to "split" his personality and role somehow, separating his communications with the controversial blogger Cameron Slater (aka "Slayer" or "Whalespoil") from his Prime Ministerial role, also before and during the election campaign.

I am a bit disappointed of Labour though, ALL leading Labour persons and MPs were presented highly controversial info on welfare and the new way they use to "assess" sick and disabled for "work ability", but that was not deemed as important for the election. They simply bypassed close to 300 thousand potential voters, them being beneficiaries. Now the media seem to be succeeding in moving Labour even more away from that potential voter base.

It is disgusting what MSD and the government are covering up, and I know of persons having various OIAs still before MSD, with the Ombudsman, and even at a higher level. It is all moving at "snail's pace', even after recent media revelations, and it is disgusting, what goes on in this country, that is supposed to be one of the most "transparent" and uncorrupted countries in the world, also calling itself a democracy.

The last election, the way it was run, the way media reported on it, it sounds rather like a "demockeracy", than a functioning, true democracy.

It is time to bring out the truth about it all, time to hold Mr Key and is "dirty men and women" to account.

  • Legal Beagle: Terrorism is already illegal, in reply to mark taslov,

You are a "dreamer", these isles are "fertile" grass lands, full of big cows and sheep, that deliver "FOOD" and so, and much of the world, not just spoiled middle class young Chinese bratts, are keen on it. So perhaps realise, you are not isolated, no place on earth is isolated, they drill now in the Arctic, and will in the Antarctic, for oil, not for joy and fun. for interest!

What makes you think NZ cows are "holy' and thus protected from greed? You live in a world on another planet, I fear.

  • Legal Beagle: Terrorism is already illegal,

I am telling you ALL again, all this "fighting" from ISIS, Al Nusra and more is coming from well funded donors in Saudi Arabia, from some gulf states, also Qatar, the so "accepted" reporters from Al Jazeera are based there.

This is what we have, Russia Today also reporting on the Ukrainian situation, we get biased reporting from the US and others, so much for "reliable" information. We are not having it made easy. Still some journos working for all keep up some decency and honesty, that is the last hope, all else is total propaganda, that is what is going on.

The loyal "brothers' and "sisters" from our US allies are surely looking like "winners", I suppose, spying, surveilling, all that "air power", and the satellites, that they have:

Looks like a damned "shit" situation to be honest, and it is much worse now. Only a formidable, well disciplined, organised, motivated and staunch fighting force would defeat ISIS, if the SS was still there, they would "manage", few else, I fear.

The problem we have with "usama bin Key" is simply, he has NO fighters. He is full of farted air and relying on Obama and his "fighters" to do the ground and air work, there and elsewhere. NZ is sadly a laughing stock, when it comes to defence of any kind. It may actually be time, no matter whether you feel more "left' or "right" of centre, to reconsider your own country's future. We NEED a defence force, similar to the Swiss, to have at least half a million ready to fight, armed and to take it to the hills if need be, or we will be sold and lost, under commercial and not so commercial sell out agreements.

I really think NZ has no future under the present defence policy, we either say wink, wink to the US or to China, and that decision will not be easy. Perhaps the best "social" and employment program is getting a few tens or hundreds of thousands motivated, paid well and readied to defend the country, at some stage in the future? che Guevara may even lead as a great example for our progressively minded "figthters", may he not?

  • Legal Beagle: Terrorism is already illegal,

YOU nailed it re the UN, for sure. I have thought all along, this is nothing but another advertorial kind of "selling" agenda for John the Holy or Less Holy Key. Another notch under the belt, so to say, for NO effort of his own. It was due to the credit of his predecessor, and the NZ diplomats exploited that formidably, that NZ Inc got that seat. They voted for the "independence" of this country, that has long gone, but the selling line was hook line and sinker, but the actuality was never grasped. All those "small" nations NZ Inc wants to now relate to, they will soon learn NZ Inc is just another "trademark" or empty "label", and will have NO effect of significance at all at any UN security council meeting. Do not bite the hand that feeds you is the dominant motto for NZ governments, so nothing will change, but Key can exploit the advertising effect and benefit, to "sell" NZ Inc to the rest, saying, hey, WE are on the SECURITY COUNCIL, we are "good guys" and "so trustworthy", and hence you better INVEST in our place and whatever else, and leave a little note with Elizabeth, to have me knighted, please. Ta!

Problem is, people are now generally so "shallow" and self-centred, yes self serving, they have no patience or understanding that bus drivers may want to strike, so they are force to pay a taxi fare. It is the tip of the nose perspective view that is the problem, besides of blatant selfishness, like, I am ok, what is the bloody problem with them??? It is so much of Me, Me, Me and I cannot understand why NOBODY is LIKE ME?!
