Smash Palace, eh ? There's been a bar called that in Gisborne for about 25 years. It has the most amazing decor of any bar I've seen in the country. I mean, not every bar has a DC3 fuselage poking through the wall, for example.

Beaver
Dan couldn't, Colin couldn't, Aaron couldn't, but leave it to Beaver and he could.

Eight
As in New Zealand eight, France seven.
For the All Blacks' winning the RWC has been a highlight for many NZers, bringing to an end years of misery and choking and being a much-needed ray of sunshine in an otherwise - no pun intended - trying year.

That really is a superb song by Blair, enhanced by a very nifty video. I didn't know he played guitar left-handed, either.

Brash and Banks are blaming the media for ACT's mediocre showing. Because of course it's the media that told Hide to binge on perks, who told David Garrett to take a dead baby's name, who told them to argue with each other, who told Brash to bang on about marijuana...

Hard News: Democracy Night, in reply to
So it takes an earthquake to change a staunch labour electorate. The Nats should pray for a few more in the next three years.
Bad taste, Ross. Very bad taste.Says the man who can't make a single post without a gratuitous, explicit sexual reference. Pot, kettle, black, Craig.

I'm loath to say this, but I think National will win reasonably comfortably. They remain very, very popular in the provinces, especially.
Labour will lose about five or six seats, which'll be picked up by the Greens.
Maori will lose one or two seats to Labour.
NZ First will get - just and only just - 5%. Mana will only just retain Hone's seat, Kelvin Davis will give him a very close run.
ACT and United Future will perish.

Regarding Russell's pic of Mt Eden earlier in this thread, next time you go there walk down into the middle of the crater. Then lie down and look up at the sky.
Hey presto ! The sky is a big green circle ! Wow !

A stronger interviewer than Mercep would have invited Joyce to repeat or recant some of the more outrageous things he has said.
Good call. Mercep is a competent enough presenter, but an mediocre interviewer.

Speaker: The Public Broadcasting Imperative, in reply to
The way to contain the contagion that is now TVNZ is to wait for the TVNZ Christmas party and then nuke the site from orbit.
It is the only way to be sure.About two years ago I was at Russell's friend Andrew Moore's apartment directly across the road from the TVNZ death star. Both of Andrew's boys were playing with toy guns.
I told Andrew's kids I'd give them $10 "if they put a cap in Paul Holmes' arse".
We both laughed.
