Trailers for plays? Great idea!

No you didn't and I got ridiculously preachy at you, for which I apologise.
Think nothing of it, sir!

Just in the sense that "Labour's internet tax" is precisely the kind of coinage that will catch on, and spook the leadership, whether it's accurate or not.
To be fair, it's not exactly entirely inaccurate.

announce loudly and dismissively they're not interested
Never. Even. Said. That.

And my point is that if anything … absolutely anything, is important to half the people in this country then it important to the country as a whole.
(Part of) my point is that no one is denying that.
(And, Bart, without wanting to make a thing about it, your last paragraph was unjustified in at least three different ways).

that half the country didn’t even watch last night’s match
Your point of course being that half the country did
My point was that liberal grousers were, I suspect, not arguing that the All Blacks are not culturally important to New Zealand. ("That would be silly".) Rather, that there are very large segments within NZ for whom it's not important.
Watching a World Cup semi-final against the Wallabies is a pretty low bar for testing interest, and the results do show that half the country does not care enough to even watch arguably their most important match in years.

In the lead-up to the Cup, some of my liberal friends groused about the idea that the All Blacks are culturally important to New Zealanders. Of course they are. It's silly to argue otherwise.
It's also worth remembering that half the country didn't even watch last night's match.

Craig Joubert for the final.
He's a South African.
Sounds a bit... French, though. Just saying.
Fun fact: before refereeing professionally, he was a "corporate banker". -
The Clean vs. All Bl@cks
Nice one.
