I thought bullying was banned in schools.

A good example of when an 'irony' tag would have come in handy?

How do you do a reverse question mark, when you can't copy from above? Sorry, so many procedural questions. Better go back to school. Although that'll bring back those nasty memories. Well, to be fair, mostly harmless, but some nasty. Being thrown out a classroom window was a more extreme example. It was only half a flight up, but it still hurt.

Not one to miss an alliterative opportunity, has anyone coined the phrase 'Tolley Dolly' yet?

"If you don't sit down, we'll have to throw you off the plane!"

    His post is here

The piece above that on Tolley's outrage is also good. If that's the way we treat the governance body of our education sector, what hope do our kids have? I thought bullying was banned in schools.

How do you embed a YouTube?

Perhaps I should rephrase that. I see a slight possibility of misinterpretation.

Anyway, another 'They Might Be Giants' song that was a favourite, and Number One on the bFm top ten circa 1988, was this. Love the video.

Sorry for more flippancy after a serious post, but this has been going South for some time (Timaru), so figure it's Ok.

You see, Semiotics is relevant to everyday life.

You mean we could just put Timaru in brackets after a sentence to indicate sarcasm? It has potential. As in, "That transmission gully is a grand idea (Timaru)."

I think the backwards question mark is at least more efficient. According to Wikipedia it is used for either irony or Sacracasm, and of course they would know (⸮).

Ps. Sacracasm. Can I keep it? We might have to go back to the Atheist Bus, but as Typos go, that's one of my better ones.

PPs I'm playing with the time continuum by shifting this down the thread. ⸮:-)

Brilliant. And I'm being sincere. Damn, are we going to have to declare our intention in every post?

I'd suggest Timaru also; as an indicator for sarcasm I mean.

    And what about irony?

Has anyone mentioned the strange Government decision to stop the 'It's not OK' campaign? Apparently, we are domestically peaceful now.

Apparently it's much worse than that. While they feel things have improved, the problem, they say, is disproportionately a Maori one, and therefore a 'new' campaign focused 'exclusively' on Maori, called Aroha in Action will get the funding.

While this may be a worthy campaign in it's own right (I don't know enough to comment), it is deeply concerning to think of the signal this may send to others. And, as others have commented, disproportionately does not mean 100%.

Russell and Robyn both tweeted about it last night, so hopefully comments will follow. It could serve to be even more 'contentious' than the flag debate.

The obvious cliché is; if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Personally I would like to try each flag on first to see if I look fat in it.

Nothing. I just wanted to repeat it and laugh some more. And in that case chequered is probably out.
