@RW. Wow, what an awesome resource.

Sadly, I think we've hardly begun to see how much attention this will attract. Columbine was not a cultural touchstone (or whatever you call it) in the immediate aftermath, but grew to be so over subsequent months and years.

That's the one.

The bit that gets my ire up is the alleged 'newsbreaks' where they deliberately don't tell you the news to bait you into watching the main show later on. That's not a newsbreak, its a bloody ad break.
"I'm Kent Brockman. On the eleven o'clock news tonight: A certain type of soft drink has been found to be lethal. We won't tell you which one until after sports and the weather with Sunny Storm."

Intriguing, Riddley. Please elaborate.

Close-Up trailer: "The worst massacre in US history".
If they don't know any history, couldn't they at least learn how to use Google?
You're assuming that they value accuracy.

SG,
This thread needs to go on forever, as a live-bloggin' record of shabby TV news practices. I can hardly believe that, as of Apr. '07, no-one is DVD-recording, and YouTube-embedding these myriad embarrassments, C&L-style. Props to Dannews, but more needs to be done. (Note: such appropriation is protected by s. 42 of the Copyright Act, 1994.) -
I'm presuming that if I have some interesting life experience that Hollywood wants to make a movie of, and pays me a sum for the pleasure, it's acting on a moral, rather than a legal right. Anyone else know? Can I copyright my life story?
