Nothing to stop others from working up their own show on a topic of their own choosing. I recognise how much hard slog Russell and the Media 7 team must have done to carve out the niche that they have. And then be respected enough to carry it to another station. Salute y'all.

Gosh, I read the summary as satire. But apparently it's market research. Not sure how to feel about that!

But many of us would like a world in which the diversity of society was reflected in the media and in popular culture.
How many of “us”, is that gender specific or is it like a straw person?. I’m getting confused as to where the divisions may lie.
You’ve lost me.
I would like to see the same balance of genders, sexualities, races, ages, degrees of physical ability, etc., on TV as I see in the street.
I think I’m not alone in this wish, hence the “us”.Obviously it's not as simple as strong-arming random people into the studio! But I think we should all be working on ways to make our culture more representative. And that includes encouraging people who aren't middle-aged middle-class white heterosexual males into more prominent careers and roles.

I would cringe so badly if I ever heard a woman declare that she was only on the show because she was a woman and as such didn’t know anything.
No one is suggesting unqualified pundits on TV, this is a straw-person.
But many of us would like a world in which the diversity of society was reflected in the media and in popular culture. Obviously, getting there is not simple.

Russ has a pretty balanced gender split
Wow, you know something about Russell that we don't know??
But seriously, does anyone have any actual figures on that? Talking heads in current affairs programmes are predominantly men.
And I think perhaps PAS has more regular women commenters than most places on the internet, but that doesn't mean we couldn't use a lot more.
