  • Hard News: The March for Democracy,

You should see what happens when you try to talk sincerely about the consequences of child hood sexual abuse, as I have attempted to do

OK i'll bite...what happens.. being ignored ? to be honest, i dont think here is the place to seek redemption and forgiveness :p

But radical, is not in my opinion, what brings about cultural change. Its the cooperation that the academic tradition supplies.

what brings about cultural change is adaptation by natural selection, survival of the fittest culture. sometime in the not too distant future we'll all be polynized and yes, partially thanks to deconstructing institutionalised racism within the education sector

sadly racialism still seems a bit too entrenched in the political sector. maybe hiphop can be the unifying cultural catalyst to speed up change there? i mean even young asians love teh hippity hop:)

  • Hard News: A Strange Surprise,

It's true that the Weatherston case brought the partial defence of provocation to the fore, but it's not as if the matter hadn't been debated before then.

damn...so if my lady comes at me with a pair of scissors, i cant stab her 216 times and mutilate her corpse then claim provocation?

SUCKY!!!...then again, im about the same size as weatherston and my lady comparable to sophie so i guess i could disarm her quite comfortably, ok maybe suffer a little scratch if i'm pissed as

ummm..so would it then be OK in that instance to just slap her round a bit as maybe clayton shoulda done...if that were the case ?

  • Hard News: A Strange Surprise,

But cops are stopping kids, searching their cars and pouring the priviously unopened piss into the Avon. They do this because the cops got caught drinking it themselves a few years back.

...they used to make us pour it out ourselves under threat of arrest

  • Hard News: A Strange Surprise,

If we start seeing cases that look like "We stopped them because drive-thru BK at 3 on a Saturday morning is indicative behaviour", I can see some court rulings to the effect of unlawful detention.

sometimes they have no intention to arrest, its just some power tripping bullshit to inconvenience you, provoke you into doing something justifying an arrest...

i've been pullled over and given the 3rd degree and when its done i asked why me and they said its cos i look shady...heh

and i said 'fair enough, in my ideal world, you clean cut ballhead looking types would be the ones i'd pull over and hassle for no reason'

  • Hard News: A Strange Surprise,

its the old... " we have reports of a burglary in the area with the suspects car matching a description of yours so we're going to have to ask that you exit the vehicle while we conduct an inspection" that used to fuck me off

...but officer you're hardly likely to find a video recorder in the glove box buried under the cassettes.

end result being, my brother got busted for posession and intention to supply for having about 15 seeds in a matchbox in the glovebox he didnt know was there...the seeds, not the glovebox:)

...funny, but i've also been with a bunch of respectable looking older whitefolk smoking in a carpark and the cops walk by and casually mention if we couldn't have found a better place to do that

dont you just love their wide ranging discretionary powers, perception is reality ?

  • Hard News: A Strange Surprise,

    no russell, you're not alone:)

    http://publicaddress.net/system/topic,2179,discussion-uncivil-rights.sm?p=138418#post138418

its the arbitrary nature with which the cop in the ad decides these younguns need drug testing and the threat of arrest by which it can be applied which worries me.

'either come down to the station and submit to a blood test or we'll arrest you but either way consider your good time well and truly fucked with.'

My advice is, if you're a peckish poly in the backseat, hide that shit before the police pull you over.

  • Hard News: The March for Democracy,

if Labour's behaviour towards the Maori Party wasn't like a teenager who's really bitter and fucked up that the crush he's never talked to is dating the captain of the First XV.

i'd say its more like the jilted girlfriend from the other side of the tracks is now shagging your brother to get back at you, but fear not, sex on the rebound never lasts

if maori roll voters have shown anything its how fickle and disloyal they are to major parties and how they mostly vote along the 'cult of personality' lines. the trouble there is, goff doesnt have a personality so he's hardly likely to draw a broad spectrum cult like following.

key on the other hand still has the mythical shine of a self made man of means kiwis love to aspire to. sure he made his millions in the wild west marketeering days of tax scams and insider trading which is why he's oh so relaxed and like hone, i suspect he doesnt give a shit what the rest of NZ thinks cos when alls said and done, he's prolly gonna buy an island off bainimarama and see his days out in luxury. it's also why hes not so moneygrubbing on the perks and free accom MP's get.

like dubya, he's not accountable to anyone but the people who contributed money to put him there and if the country goes to shit while his buddies make a few more mill before the banks truly collapse then he would have served his purpose. IMHO:)

i'm still holding out for the hiphop party geared towards youth and mobilising 2.0 media to come out of nowhere and fuck the man right up

back on point...can any parallels with the march on democracy be drawn with this ?

  • Hard News: So-called celebrity justice,

ahhh...but how many more prostitutes would have been murdered if the cameras weren't there ?

i've always thought it'd be better if all city cameras were open access. let the public watch themselves and be all narky vigilant on the crime buzz...

  • Hard News: The March for Democracy,

Another thought, Goff might want to pick a mouthpiece to go off about "the iwi elites" with a slightly more slightly more (street) credible resume than Shane Jones. Eventually, someone's going to point out that Jones has spent his entire adult life sitting at the political/corporate 'Brown Table' -- and if he didn't have exactly those networks his stock would be a damn sight lower in Labour than it is.

    haha...this^^

...now i aint sayin he a house nigga but he aint messin with no broke wiggas
