Finally got around to making this. Made the harissa using the oil and chicken fat left in the pan after browning the chicken and it worked out well. Crockpot didn’t heat up well, so had to crank it up and the end to get it cooked properly, but it turned out okay. Went a bit light on the chilli and cayenne for my daughter’s sake, but she decreed it was the perfect amount of spiciness. Served on brown rice, with a side salad.

(Ian quoting) He teaches me all the time that kindness is more important than honesty
Well he's got things "more important than honesty" down pat. If only kindness got a look in.
He's being kind to Farrar. Much more important than honest reporting.

I guess I have an earlier memory of being part of a news event, namely standing on the side of Grafton Road as the Queen was driven by in her Rolls Royce. I guess that was March 1970, aged 5.

My initial thought when I tried to wrack my brain was TV footage of the Vietnam war, principally the shots of people falling from aeroplanes as they took off, or commentary on them being found dead in the wheel bays upon landing in the US. Little me just could not comprehend how this was allowed to happen. I assume that this was associated with the fall of Saigon, which was in 1975, so I would have seen news before this, (eg 1972 Olympics and 1974 Commonwealth games), so I do think that horror is one way that early memories get cemented.

The first TV news story I can definitely remember is the Munich Olympics massacre, because my family rented a TV from the August School Holidays until Christmas, and I watched the Olympic Games coverage every day when I got home from school.
