  • Hard News: The March for Democracy,

A child is a human being, with the same powers of reason as an adult – a mind, a heart, a brain. A child is not an “almost human being”.
[quote : Deborah Coddington from the "Vote Yes site" NZ Referendum on child discipline]

Deborah , anyone who thinks a child has the same powers of reason as an adult is living in the land of illusion!

  • Hard News: The March for Democracy,

Colin Craig is a man of principle. He invested his own money to march against the left wing minority vocalists like Russell Brown & Co who are determined that their minority ill informed judgments rule the day.

Russell & Co still cant accept that the majority of folks in this country don't support their views.

Just reading through the diatribe presented here in this blog its centered around supporting a minority view.

Rule by the minority is being promoted by Russell & Co in this blog .
    An unhealthy determination.

Garth McVicar is one of the most respected people in NZ & his work with the Sensible Sentencing Trust has achieved a lot for ALL New Zealanders in tackling crime..If you ask most of the victims of crime in this country about SST , they know the work of Garth & his team has been invaluable.
Russell in denigrating a great man like Garth McVicar only denigrates himself .

  • Should creation be taught in schools?,

This is 2009. Creationism is all part of the phony Adam & Eve & the world was created in 7 days stuff.Which has been completely debunked by science.
What i would like to see taught in schools is some kind of common values to aid the world & society to be a better place.
I saw an interesting article in our local suburban newspaper where a primary school was teaching kids "human rights" , they'd drawn up a little chart , and alongside that was another chart entitled "human responsibilities" . I liked that.Society needs a balance between rights & responsibilities. Everything is out of kilter present day.

  • Dave Dobbyn,

The interview was too cozy and vacuous . Everyone patting each other on the back & saying well done chaps. No grit!No mention of "Outlook for Thursday" or many of the other HIT songs hes done.
And why is Bliss missing off this album?
Also why does he want to get rid of The Lords Prayer in Parliament? A great prayer, with a great message , no matter your religious persuasion .
But for Dave a Maori Karakia is ok???Uhhh Dave "get on board" or is it because you've been hanging out with Zaoui & the Islamic salvation party too much?
Nice acoustic guitar at the end.

  • Random Play: So You Wanna Be A…,

ok, so cash was a problem , but then again how come Dragon had their act together in the 70's in terms of production ?They werent exactly rolling in dough...they were living in a rough den in ponsonby ...they used local guy "peter dawkin"s & all those recordings have stood the test of time, radio still play them because not only are they good songs but they have a good sound production ..

your stuff came out in the 80s when technology & sound production skills available would have been better & more advanced than the 70s..

its true "see me go" has'nt got that true song test longevity appeal but given its new wave 80s slot and a much better produced sound , it may have stood on its own against the new wave chart riders at the time like "flock of seagulls" , "human league" "devo" etc..

simon grigg under your propeller label why did u let "andrew snoid" produce the mee mee's "see me go" single?..
.maybe with a much better fuller sound production it would have had more mass appeal & global chart success..
andrew snoids under experience & hence under production of the single is a big failure..
same with the blams "no depression in nz" that could have had global success if the production had been better ..

sound production is as important as the song itself..!!.. Look at the dawn raid stuff coming out, it has a very poorly produced sound, yet if dawn raid had gone to the effort of a good production some of their singles may have been succesful internationally....
worse still , or more tragic is nz reggae group katchafire's production skills ..Whoever produced their stuff needs to be shot..they have 1 or 2 good songs their best track is "giddy up"..but the sound quality is baaad..i even bought their new cd called party pack which is like a greatest hits compile . On the cover it stated that all tracks had been remastered including "giddy up"...yet it still sounded YUK!
So if simon grigg thinks that we do have what it takes in NZ for good sound production , then why are a lot of NZ musicians turning out such badly produced sound?

  • Flying Nun Moments,

appart from the Chills , flying nuns catalogue is vastly overated ...flying nun & chris knox are responsible for some of the most under produced crappy sounding music in the history of new zealand music..
production wise, defunct!Chris Knox never invested in good sound production all the bands on the flying nun label suffered meteorically because of this..
so thx but NO thx for a free box set of flying nun stuff..

  • Hard News: Turning the page,

And can anyone on board tell me why did this labour government endorse tax payer funding for the politically motivated Hollow Men play? Clearly such taxpayer purse money should not be used to denigrate the opposition party , which in essence is exactly whats has happened through this funding given by Creative New Zealand..

  • Island Life: Top ten surprises in…,

whilst i'm not a fan of everything ian wishart writes..he has stated that he's been very moderate in what he has revealed about helen clark in his investigate mag ..havent read his book on her yet..
    ..
In the helen clark article he wrote a while back in Investigate that there were so many things he witheld from printing that would have blown her "sham marriage cover" for good..

helen clarks 70's political background was communistic & she was actually an official contact for the Abu Sayaf muslim rebels in the far south of the Philippines , thats according to the Investigate magazine article......so yes i've got to read the book..

Not a fan of helen clark's dictatorship government.
