Merc - This position...
"I have stated here before that the French hold rugby dear in part due to the fact that during the German Occupation, rugby was the only thing men were allowed to gather to do, on the penalty of death."
is Myth building promoted by a bunch of mostly collaborators if not out right fascists. France doesn't yet want to own this part of its history.
Very much like the lies Kiwis say about being clean and green - it's not true but it sounds nice.

This position wud have you believe that French Rugby players were all resistance fighters. German occupation was Vichy France administered. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vichy_France
A bit of myth building to cover up their jobs in the Railway working through night & fog. -
"But those values don't include being a sniping prick."
Twisting it a little - but a mouthy git/sniping prick is exactly who we needed on the field - a Mashall or Weepu - not a porn star - shud've known we were fked then.

"WW1 was fought and won on the playing fields of Eton, Cambridge and Oxford, remember and obey."
I agree, Rugby has nothing to do with war.

We can bitch about the ref all we like (& I have) but where was the losey to secure the ball in the ruck from that swift french hand? where was the defense to stop the try made of a forward pass 2 men back in the line? where was the support runner for Ali Williams to pass to?
The ref needs a kick but the All Blacks lost it, choked if you will.
Why do we put some much meaning into it? -
It's Summer Time!
http://www.slsnz.org.nz/Article.aspx?ID=344"I blame William Webb Ellis. If only he hadn't picked the ball up that day and ran with it we'd be spared all this grief."
He didn't it was all a pack of lies made up when he was 70 odd and was one of the few who didn't have a criminal record as an adult, but never let the facts get in the way of a good story like "Tom Browns School Days"

Popped along to Free Burma Rally in Christchurch.
It was small & sweet but that's fine.I'll let others concerntrate on the issues but couldn't get over Ruth (DIC) Dyson park illeagally and everyone walking 3 times around the park past it.And we wonder why the transport questions go unanswered.
Not to disrespect the monks but to my untrained ear the chants sounded like Shaggy on 33. It had an understated good beat to it. "meisster booom baastic ....."

If you're glancing at the Truth there's a pleanty of moral corruption. I think it might have more to do with prostitute being too long for their readers.

Yeah sorry "dogs" wasn't a good choice but had the micro chip of all dogs and exceptions for farm dogs argument in mind. Poor choice of words.
