  • Spoof of the Genesis pukeko TV ad,

nice, but ..... what is the solution? Are PA readers prepared to hook up their computers to exercycles and only use the electricity they generate themselves?

What are the alternatives to coal fired energy? More Hydro dams? "Sorry, the rivers can't cope with that!". How about wind turbines? "Sorry, not in my backyard/pristine natural environment". Nuclear? "Sorry, have you forgotten Chernobyl?"

I know many on PA also read HuffPo, but I think this is worthy of it's own link here. I'm not really/normally into poetry but the spoken word poetry by Steven Connell is quite stunning ....
I particularly love the idea that so many of Bush's bible loving supporters could in fact be ignoring one of it's more obvious warnings!

~~Robert Greenwald and poet Steven Connell mark the fourth anniversary of "Mission Accomplished," the infamous 2003 assertion by President Bush that "major combat operations have ended" in Iraq.~~

  • Hard News: Parties, seriousness and the…,

I don't think I'll win, but I didn't think I'd win in 2005 and 2006 either, so I guess it's as well that I'm actually going along this time.

Oh dear, by actually going you have just jinxed your chances of winning.

    So MySpace is mostly trivial...

Just like television, and the radiola before it ...

    Bono?.....for fux sake......

Why does everyone hate Bono so much?

"....Second link has streaming video of the whole thing...."

Ta! (it was late so I just skipped to the site and bookmarked it for later perusal)

Gee, who needs TV when you can just watch everything online? Amazing! Now, if only someone could invent a small handheld device so I can watch stuff without being chained to the computer.

Kind of like a Walkman-With-Video, if you will ...

    Yup!
"Buying the War," a 90-minute documentary that explores the role of the press in the lead-up to the invasion of Iraq.

  • Hard News: Unusual Democracy,

what Sue just said above ....

fair enough Sue, especially if you're passing them on to someone you know but ....

if the gig/event has sold out and you're flogging the tickets on the open market then you should charge a premium. Why? Because: [a] the person who bought them off you may be a scalper and will onsell them again at a profit [b] even if not a scalper, people should learn not to wait till the last minute to buy tickets. They were 'lucky' to get a last-minute ticket so they should pay a 'fine' for their sins. Otherwise you're just enabling their tardiness!

And besides, you can always give the extra money to the next busker you see around town! That will help keep the arts alive!!
