  • Hard News: Grown men might weep at the rucking,

So far the 'Voice of Reason' is not you Grant -this whole 'fallen comrades' stuff is more out of the war comics we used to see when I was a kid, anyone who risks their own life to retrieve a dead body is IMHO being stupid - it's the same reason they left those Aussies tourists under the glacier for a week or so recently.

And of course we need to be investigating how someone gets around the law and obtains firearms with out a license - that's one good way we'll protect the police from this sort of thing in the future - if he stole them from the territorials and no one noticed there's obviously something going wrong there that needs to be fixed

BTW at the end of this there just has to be an investigation as to how someone without a firearms license end up with so much weaponry

Yeah - just leave the guy - normally I;d guss they'd just wait for him to drift off to sleep but supposedly he has explosives/booby traps/etc, I guess they don't want the value of the surrounding real estate to go down ....instead they'd rather he got tired of being in there and choose to come out on his own I bet he has no power and no water and at this point his toilet is starting to get a bit unpleasant .....

    Recipes:

    Sangria
    -------

    - several bottles of the cheapest red wine you can find that isn't complete shite
    - any fruit juice you like (start with orange, maybe boil some mint and make a little tea ) to taste
    - chop up some fresh fruits, perhaps half a pineapple as people expect floaty bits
    - lots of vodka
    - more vodka

place in a big punch bowl, garnish with a small sign encouraging people to keep it away from the kiddies

when it starts to run out pour in more of everything, don't forget the vodka

BTW we've been done very well by over the past few years by Corporate Direct who are now winesale.co.nz order it in the morning and it shows up on our doorstep - we tedn to buy an assortment every month or so and when we find something we like a case or half case (like Russell I have no interest in them other than as a happy customer)

My big problem with supermarket wines is that when I buy the 'same' thing in the same bottle with the same label in Safeway in California as I do here in Fresh Choice Dunedin I get something different - I understand that the Aussies have a wine glut and that they're probably blending tastes for particular local consumptions - but the least they could do would be to change the labels ....

I also miss '2 buck chuck' not because of it's 'wonderful taste' but because it makes wonderful cheap summer sangria

  • Up Front: The Ex Files,

my career fortunately wasn't that exciting - at the time I was the mystery employee - the guy who architected some of the major products but only came in 1/2 a day a week, most people (including the crazy one) had never met me - this was pre-internet, I lived 100km miles away and had young kids - I worked at home, time shifted and spent the mornings with my kids, until they got old enough to go off to pre-school.

These days I still work at home but 10,000km away from work, time-shifted the other way (I start insanely early now) and go into work once or twice a year - so my kids can be teenagers growing up in NZ ..... sadly I don't get to hang out at the park every morning with them and the other mothers any more though.

  • Up Front: The Ex Files,

I had a coworker who pulled a knife on a customer during a business trip once - after he was "let go" the company moved a chunk of engineering into a hotels for a while and paid a PI to follow him around for a couple of weeks ....

(this was after a spate of workplace mayhem in Silicon Valley that culminated with a top secret defense research lab being exposed by the spree of disgruntled employee with a shotgun .... I never understood why he couldn't just get even by selling out to the Russians or the Israelis like everyone else)
