Thanks. Posts like that warm my heart. I'm so glad that I stopped watching TV and TV news coverage specifically. After reading that post, I can't imagine why anyone watches TV news willingly.
As my good friend from the former Yugoslavia once said, "In Yugoslavia we knew news was bullshit. Here, people watch think is real".
How old is Duncan Garner anyway? And Jesse Peach? I know there are no child labour laws in New Zealand but they seem to be pushing things.

Great piece, thanks.
I struggle with the "let them be irrational" versus "religion is evil and should be abolished" feelings in my head. Sure, spooky feelings about nature and osteopathy might be irrational. We're all a bit irrational. But religion is seriously irrational and on more important things than trees at dusk or your sore back. Virgins don't have babies. What consenting adults do with their genitals is not a moral issue. People don't live beyond death. At least not in my experience...
And isn't your spooky feeling about nature actually deeply rational in a way? The Romantics had the same feelings because the cosmos really is indifferent. Those spooky trees are only there because of things happening in space.

I agree that it would be a shame if the Warriors were to move to Eden Park. Mt Smart is earthy and has a nice vibe to it.
And, as you pointed out, it's in the area where league is most popular -- and it's cheap, too. However, I'm not sure it is a "dream" to get in and out of. You can pay $10 (up from $5 last year...) to pay in an illegal parking lot being run out of an auto-body shop or you can park in the stadium or on the street quite a walk from the stadium. Getting back on to the motorway after the game takes eons. The problem really is that all the stadiums in this city are dogs. I've heard from a town planning expert that the general rule for a stadium is that there needs to be roughly 10,000 parking spots within a 5 minute walk of the stadium. I'm not sure any of them measure up to that.

What on earth possessed you to re-publish an 8 year old navel-gazing fluff piece like that? That type of writing proves that you are Gen X and that Gen X is a lot closer to baby boomerism than you would probably care to admit.
My favourite line though has to be about getting a better cheap feed in Auckland than in London. Yes, that's the whole point of food. Quantity over quality.
I have to say, however, that if I read anything half as good as that in Metro in 2009 I would probably drop dead from shock.
