fairly bland meat
Nothing that a few hours in a good homemade marinade wouldn't cure.

but it could easily nab movie piracy with their 700 -1400 meg files and hd 5gig files
What if you have either permission to copy a copyrighted item, or the content is free-to-share?
How do the ISP's make that sort of decision? How is that process funded as a set of additional requirements on the ISP from rights holders?
Seems that it's a long way from black and white.

suspect whatever happens in NZ will be a result of following US & European precedents....rather than NZ forging it's own path, or being in a position to lead, regardless of direction of change.

On another thread Simon's pointed me towards his blog, containing his thoughts on the matter....just for the sake of accuracy and completeness.

Thanks Simon... my apologies it was Bradley. If Gray's made good living doing what he is doing, I don't understand why he needs a subsidy to do it.

Simon - any comment to make on Gray Bartlett link you posted?

Interesting that this type of news provider seems to be undergoing a bit of a resurgence (by this I mean a move away from the trivial). Pundit and Public Address (particularly PA Radio) both seem to operate in that same space that seemed to have fallen out of favour with the profit driven media.
Pundit.co.nz's "daily digest" approach could be a good example of a value-add in taking information from different sources & remixing to add value, just as Public Address seems to create value in providing community & discussion for traditional news and topics slightly outside of the traditional news domain.
Makes me wonder if rather than operating as entirely separate entities, if there is an opportunity to create synergy between the sites and also agree to avoid creating competition for site viewers time.

After over the weekend hearing a repeat of Chris Laidlaw's interview of David Coltart, a senior MDC politician talking about the political developments in Zimbabwe last year, I set about to find more Zimbabwe content.
So here's a link to the Weekly News Review from SW Radio Africa covering the
cholera outbreak, the delay to the start of the 2009 academic year, the political situation, torture & abduction allegations.... Eye opening is not the word. -
I was having a look at the Zimbabwe Herald, (an organisation which claims Robert Mugabe retains the mandate to lead the government) and stumbled across the following article about CD ownership at what I assume is the National Broadcaster, which I post as a contrast to the discussion here, which seems frequently to focus on music ownership.

Just found Public Address Radio's interview regarding intellectual property via the free beer initiative. It's worth the couple of minutes it takes to listen, raising the movement towards reclaiming rights for society type view.
