  • Radiation: Big bang theory,

The new episode of The Simpsons, however, just seemed to be missing humour.

That episode was written by the Knocked Up / Superbad / Pineapple Express / etc. team of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. I found it about as funny as those films (ie not very). As much as anything, that ep. was notable, IMO, for retreading a lot of old jokes and situations.

Frankly, The Simpsons has been going downhill for so long, I just can't wait for it to die; they are ruining their leacacy. For me, seasons four and five was the peak, and pretty much each season since (21st, now) has been a bit less great than the previous.

  • Radiation: Big bang theory,

Speaking of Ryan Murphy, what ever happened to Nip/Tuck on 2?

You need to be here. Very good for your hair.

If nothing else works out, I'll get back to you about that one.

    @ BarNZy,
    Yep, that's an actual photo.

    I have no bugs!

Can I suggest Olive oil or Hemp oil as the Hydrocarbon chain for your soap molecule?

    In English, please. :)

Also, try being a conventionally longer-haired woman and washing with nothing but water so your 'natural oils' don't get 'stripped', and see how many jobs you get after a series of stringy-rats-tailed interviews.

The thing is, it's the shampoo that causes greasy hair. As it strips the oil from the hair, it encourages more to be produced, which requires another wash and so the vicious circle continues. Stopping, or cutting back on, shampoo apparently allows one's hair to get back to its natural balance in 3-6 weeks. Water's good, but I need something else once in a while.

I just hate that for two days after a shampoo wash I look like this.

...curiously, I never actually use soap, except on my hands. But I respect people's right to strip their bodies of natural oils on daily basis, for the purposes of social conformity. If that's what it takes for people to feel clean...

    Finally, this topic arises.

Right, I need a good non-shampoo hair-washing recipe. I tried the baking soda / vinegar one; okay, but still too oil-stripping / drying (which is the problem with shampoo in the first place).

    Any ideas?

3 of them came from the area I've made my home in, and the others I knew in the Greymouth-to-Punakaiki area.

Ah! Well, that explains it. ;)

But seriously... I can't argue with your observations, except to say that possibly sometimes one gets the explanations one looks for.

The 10 'deranged by smoking pot' people I know *were* certified by competent medics.

Certified deranged *and* smoking pot, perhaps, but that's not the same thing. If nothing else, it's well known that mentally unwell people self-medicate in search for some relief from their condition.

    In short, correlation ≠ causation.

"Crusher" Collins wilfully distorts prison officers' position on 'Three Strikes' (that they will be put in danger of inmates with nothing left to lose).

I am astonished that the union would suggest prisoners they regard as too dangerous to be kept in prison be released back into the community through shorter sentences. [...] I believe it sends the wrong signal when their union starts making excuses for these hardened criminals."

I was all convinced that he'd do 'Take Me to the River' as an encore, and then there was no encore! Horrors!

Ray Davies a few years ago: Some doofus at the Civic turned on the house lights prematurely, denying us an encore that might have included - by my estimate - something like Celluloid Heroes and Waterloo Sunset.
