  • Speaker: Telling Our Own Tales, in reply to sam bryant,

Hey all you sheep-shagging zealots....listen up! Jeremy is a friend of mine...

Even imaginary friends are better than no friends. Doh!

  • Hard News: Dirty Politics,

Kim Dotcom doubts that his revelations next Monday about the extent of our country's role in mass global surveillance and his (alleged / anticipated) proof that John Key lied, will damage Key's credibility or convince voters to change the Government.

Dotcom mused that the apparently limited impact of Nicky Hager's book Dirty Politics on Mr Key's popularity meant that the Prime Minister could probably be photographed "shooting little kittens in his garden with a shotgun", and still be popular.

Can we move the discussion on rather than get bogged down in futile, point scoring semantics?

    +1

Ugly Truth (or George, as I like to think of him)

Now you've spoiled it. I was picturing him politely as "Mr Ugly".

Should have said this a while ago, but can we take this to the other thread where it's at least barely relevant.

Thank God! (Hopefully I'm not blaspheming there). ;-)

  • Hard News: Dirty Politics,

Stuff is running Hints ahead of Dotcom announcement.

Kim Dotcom has released further details of his "moment of truth" announcement that the Internet Party founder says will turn the election on its head.

In a statement today, the Internet Party said the event on Monday "will present vital information to voters about Prime Minister John Key, the National Government and the sordid workings of Hollywood ahead of the general election".

"The elite panel of guests and experts will lift the lid on the New Zealand Government's involvement in spying, mass surveillance and more at this unprecedented event."

Let's hope it's not a fizzer. Although given the public's lack of interest in NZ's biggest political scandal to date, I'm not holding my breath.

And I suppose she was never a foul-mouthed bully at school either?

  • Hard News: Dirty Politics,

Meanwhile Andrew Dickens in the Herald employs some pretty perverted logic to explain that National is actually more of a left-wing party, repeats Cunliffe's capital gains tax error and reminds us that voters are "tired of the dirty politics headlines".

    Yep. Same old... same old.

    ....... and what happened?

Apparently nothing. I was expecting at least one of the Sunday papers to produce a decent article about the Ede/Slater conversations. But nada. It would be good to know which journos were handed the remaining whaledump documents. And which editors decided to back National and ignore them.

Nothing to see here folks... it's all blown over.

The panel is the least profession programme on Radio NZ National.

I caught the end of the panel on Friday and was surprised to hear Denise L'Estrange-Corbet insisting that there was no child poverty in NZ. Her argument was that if poor people only gave up their booze and fags, they wouldn't be poor any longer and their kids would all be well-fed.

She immediately went on to claim that there was no real unemployment in NZ because there are plenty of jobs available. I guess those same poor people just need to get out and choose a job from the thousands out there.

I rarely listen to afternoons on Nat Rad because it's a bit soft and squishy. But I was amazed that DL'E-C (is that a valid abbreviation?) was able to make these very right wing claims unopposed.
