I'm treating it as a small win.
That's cool, but you won't mind if differ.

Correction
Contains:
a) No admission that the NZH/HoS has repeatedly used the false figure.
b) No admission that NZH/Hos failed to respond to earlier requests for correction.
c) No explanation that the false figure had hugely understated the actual popularity of TVNZ7.
d) No admission that the false figure was the anchor "fact" for an NZH editorial which purported to show that TVNZ7 had failed to garner a large audience (and therefore deserved its demise).
e) No admission that that editorial could have created or substantially contributed to a false impression among the general public that TVNZ7 is far less popular than is actually the case.
f) No pledge to - in future - fact-check figures before publishing.
I could go on.
Suffice to say that this *technical correction* will do absolutely nothing to remediate the damage done. -
But with zero enforcement (in particular jurisdictions), does a law mean anything (in particular jurisdictions)?
Greg, I don't want to leave you hanging, so just a note to say that I'm unable to answer that. :)

there are certain places where the net allows the equivalent of a man standing on the corner of main street yelling how he's going to kill X politician (gruesomely).
Such people should probably be advised of the following...
[Crimes Act]
306 Threatening to kill or do grievous bodily harm
(1) Every one is liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 7 years who—
(a) threatens to kill or do grievous bodily harm to any person; or
(b) sends or causes to be received, knowing the contents thereof, any letter or writing containing any threat to kill or do grievous bodily harm to any person.

Good news. It's nice to know that if you want the Herald to make a correction, you only have to object, object again, complain, disprove, complain again, disprove again, protest vigorously, have others complain, and, finally, gasp in exasperation.

I always thought it was " fast and bulbous", but I think you're right.
