Might be, if they attach to the frame. How much are you selling them for at Rode?

I secretly love it when people lock bikes to the poles that hold the “No Parking” signs!
Pleased to be of service! It's a pretty likely choice for me, since I often chose the bike because I couldn't park a car nearby.
I go extra distance to avoid the entire area.
I'm usually on the Northwestern Cycleway nearby. But Russell's problem is that he actually lives right by there - that stretch is on his route to the cycleway. At least on the footpath you probably won't get run over.

The photo from the Netherlands reminded me – hardly anyone LOCKS their bike there
Really? They did in Amsterdam, but that could be an exception. I had a bike that had quite a cool feature, a built in rear-wheel lock there. Never seen it since.
Sure, anyone could pick it up and put it in a van, but it isn’t that great a bike to start with.
My thinking too. I don't even have a disk brake to lock. I'm sure I'd feel differently if my bike cost heaps, but it didn't.

The bike parking at UoA is very good. Not only lots of proper racks all over the place, but a swipe carded video monitored cage for the especially paranoid. Not that I use it, I'm content to just lock the frame and helmet up, and leave it at that.
Out in general public, I almost always lock it directly outside wherever I'm going, usually to a lamp post or road sign or pillar or rubbish bin. I think the greatest security comes from it being in a public place with many eyes. Outside a supermarket it's best if it's near the door. Same with a mall.
No one has ever bugged me about it being in their way or inappropriately parked. Not ever.

Hard News: Bringing an order Auckland…, in reply to
I wonder if National has realized what a blunder the super city was for them, and thinks its only stands a chance of getting a right wing candidate in is if they can rebrand themselves as "not the National Party". After a strong run in which it's patently clear that they're backing this new party, they pull out of the race, giving the old C&R a clear run. In the lead up they can drag debate to the right, making the center right look like the moderate option.
I know the cretinous ACToids that are currently in there do this already. But they're too far out, too whack. Indeed the national brand of National most likely wants to disassociate from these nutters even more than it wants to disassociate with the national level ACT party. If they can spike this bunch's guns in the process, I think they might see that as a win. One useful idiot to your right can be a blessing, but a whole gaggle is just trouble.

Kaye, Michelle Boag and others were frustrated that there is “not a coherent left-right divide that you see in central government” and that councillors vote on issues.
It's like they found the only good thing about local government and decided it had to go.

C&R president Karen Sherry, when asked if C&R could merge with Auckland Future, said “that’s a discussion that needs to be had” but added “sometimes competition can be healthy”.
LOL, genius. Hoist by their own petards!!

He seems like a good dude. I don't know what's up with all the haterz. Too talented and good looking, I think. All Blacks are meant to be ugly and gruff.
