You haven’t been keeping up at all. FG has made no such statement. Climate is always changing. Farmers have always adapted. You can too.
What changes have you made since 1999?You don't believe that anthropogenic climate change is real. In this you differ from accepted science, and when this is pointed out to you, you change the subject.

All the rest sell at retail, but buy at wholesale, which means the system saves an order of magnitude less money. Furthermore, there are no agreements that force them to stick to any deal made.
I think this is the reason why some ppl just have solar hot water heating. It takes the complexities out! But distributed generation makes so much sense, and I think a responsible government would sort out the details, as you say.

All the research I’m aware of shows that so far buyers won’t pay the necessary amount more for energy-efficiency improved properties, so for now, photovoltaics/solar hot water/insulation/double glazing/etc can only be valued in terms of what the property-owner will get out of them over the period they’re planning to live in the house; otherwise they’re over-capitalising..
Is this the same nationwide? I would have thought that in the South Island where winter warmth and paying for heating is a big deal, buyers would be wildly appreciative of energy-efficient homes.

Distributed solar is a bloody good idea Ben. It brings some challenges because it will required the grid to be a whole lot smarter but it makes a lot of sense
In fact anyone can do this, now. Some rellies of mine just got solar panels fitted. You tell the power company and they come and put a meter in to show how much you're giving back to the grid. They charge for setting up the meter, but after that they pay you for your solar power.

Running a power line along just about the same route as the proposed monorail and over Wakatipu would be just about the straightest route from Manapouri
State highway 94 connects quite neatly with SH 6 which goes north to Queenstown. Crows might fly in a straighter line, but the road connection is a fairly direct one. I don’t see why a power transmission line would have to go cross-country, at the southern end anyway. And from Queenstown it could follow the Crown Range road to Wanaka and through the Lindis to join up with the Mackenzie Lakes hydroelectric system.

And of course – yachts, ships “hull-down” on/over the horizon are absolutely normal everyday stuff, nothing surprising, whereas substantial mirages rely on strongly stratified air temperature variations close to the sea surface, which is not going to happen in the Hauraki Gulf in the middle of a mild onshore breezy day in late summer with warm sea surface temperatures.
I'm not a sailor, so I bow to your superior knowledge of what's common, but a "hull-down" ship is still a mirage. My point was not that this was a sensational happening, but that the apparent horizon was confused by mirages, and might not be where it appeared to be.
