  • Island Life: The resignation of Captain Worth,

I'm getting a little puzzled by Craig's suggestions that it be taken to the SSC and/or Police

I'm just waiting for him to bring in the Korean and Indian dimension. It's plainly a job for McCully.

I would say that's the last of the 90's cock-ups to be sorted out.

In that respect, you're more Pollyanna than me, I fear.

  • Not Guilty,

    Here's my Pollyanna:
If you think he actually did it (my hand is up) then he did 15 years; you have a result.

If you think he didn't, or you simply believe that the cops laid an insufficient foundation, or you think that it simply wasn't proven beyond reasonable doubt, then this is your day.

I now wait to see who wins the bidding war between Campbell and Sainsbury to hump his leg at seven.

Islander, good suggestion, here's mine, and it's pure Pollyanna: if you think he actually did it (my hand is up) then he did 15 years. If you think he didn't, or you simply believe that the cops laid an insufficient foundation, or you think that it simply wasn't proven beyond reasonable doubt, then this is your day.

I've just added a new thread to cover this.

    I would, naturally, agree : )

What I ought to add is that I see a threat nonetheless, and it is this: directionless, aimless leadership sells us short. Especially in the present circumstances. How do you develop, or grow or innovate in such a context? Only by good luck.

  • Island Life: The resignation of Captain Worth,

The pronunciation sounded to me like "Textors". A Freudian slip, as we all know, is when you say one thing and you mean your mother.

I also wonder if I've heard any other leader of their country, save for Dubya, get so tangled up in their vocabulary. He had lost confidence in Worth last Tuesday, he said. Then, when pressed by Mary Wilson, he tried to find the words to declare that he had in fact begun to lose confidence at that point. From Tuesday onwards, he finally declared to her, after two or three failed attempts to clear the bar, "my confidence in him was rescinding".

with a steak through his heart...
    Ah. Hence the garlic.

I think that's how Garth's finally going to go.

  • Island Life: The resignation of Captain Worth,

You know how it is. Somebody asks to friend you, and you don't have the heart to say no. But then you hear dreadful things about them and you think perhaps I'll un-friend them now.

So off you go to Facebook, but hello! Their page is no longer there.

Ahem. Perhaps I'll hold up for a moment.
