Timaru (not Constantinople)

After all, those A-Team boys were pretty ingenious with whatever was lying around, and that fits in well with the No.8 wire mentality.
And with global warming kicking in, maybe 'I ain't getting on no plane!' should be a national catchphrase?
comes replete with a ready made anthem
everyone does the spoken word bit in unison, percussion with a bit of thigh slapping, then when the theme kicks in, men do the beat boxing, females over 18 can handle harmony, and those not eligible to vote hum the melody. Anyone who fucks up or sings the wrong part gets automatic name suppression.

re: rhymes, overrated. re: flags, same fabric as the emperor's new clothes would fit nicely.

Maori aren't Te fraking Borg Collective on any subject, any more that youse whitefellas are :)
Funny. IMHO re: the flag, it would be preferable to see NZ reach a more visceral union and harmony before the weavers are put to work.

*Relationship to land & other land-dwelling species.
*Relationship to the water bodies, especially the seas (in Maori terms, land & sea are antipathetical,) and most of all,
*Relationship to other humans, both in whakapapa terms, current whanau obligations, and experiential terms. In a nutshell Islander. The priorities of the civilised people. perfectly put. Is it too much trouble to ask you to translate your last sentence, I generally try to look the words up, but that's too much of a stretch.
