Mental age, like high and low functioning ,have eugenic undertones and are from the age of institutions. But I know what you mean.

Keith Sinclair was a regular at Turnbull Library events. I remember several of us librarians and historians squashed into someone's little car to go somewhere. I sat next to Keith Sinclair. I remember thinking this will be a good story to tell sometime.

Makes me feel old that I remember Douglas Lilburn very clearly as an active, living person. We share some trivia too. The Lilburn House in Ascot Street Thorndon is a lovely modernist house built by Frederic Schwarzkopf who was one of those talented Jewish architectural emigres. It is now Historic Places Trust listed. The first house I owned was also built by Schwarzkopf in 1949 as his own home. Those modernist houses are light and open although often quite small.

Hard News: Doing over the witness, in reply to
There were several journalists at Nicky's talk to the Wellington medical school last Friday. Some identified themselves when they asked questions. One was Ben Heather who has written some good stuff on disability (always a positive for me) and he and his colleague wrote this neutral piece for the DomPost yesterday. At least it is something.

He spoke at the Wellington Medical School on Friday about the attacks on public health academics and the need for public health people to push back against the corporate lobbyists and their assistants.
I don't recall that him mentioning the raid but he would have had his reasons.

Radio Live reporting that Nicky Hagar’s house raided by police looking for details of Rawshark. Worrying.

OK new Ministers. Nicky Wagner new Minister for Disability Issues. Any background in disability - anyone know? Jonathan Coleman new Minister for Health. Ex doctor but any knowledge about disability support? Hekia still Minister of Education but special ed often goes to an assoc minister. We have Nikki Kaye - who at least has a family member with autism so might be OK - and David Seymour (Act).
Minister of Social Development Anne Tolley will hopefully not be so hard line against disabled beneficiaries as her predecessor. Apparently was quite concerned about disability and prisoners in her former role as Corrections Minister.
Will watch with interest. I advise those with urgent disability related issues to get to the new ministers asap while they are still fresh and interested..
