  • Hard News: The Soap Opera,

When you've been working in a business for a long stretch and have enjoyed times of mass prosperity, it's hard to see there are any alternatives that will ever generate the profits you've seen generated from doing things same-old-same-old.

This is true for all parties involved in this.

The ones who bring great change are generally the ones who have nothing to lose.

To change a business model and find a new paradigm takes enormous courage and long-term focus, one that most large corporates and old industry dogs find impossible to do.

  • Hard News: The meaning of a Banana,

Craig - you seem to misunderstand; I meant that kids born in NZ who are white with immigrant parents don't have labels applied to them.

They have kiwi accents, they are free to practice their parent's cultural practices if they want and they don't get labelled.

    By either side...

  • Hard News: The meaning of a Banana,

Are there terms for white people in the same boat?

What do you call kids born in NZ to white south african parents? Dutch parents? etc...

These kids also slip between two cultures but generally don't labelled.

Their parents might, sure, but do their kids?

  • OnPoint: Name and Snipe,

I don't care about the advertising so much as the fact those AMEX bastards never make offers like that to existing cardholders!

I've had one of these cards since it launched and I've never been given a free flight other than the ones I've earned myself by using the card so much.....grrrrrrr....

  • Hard News: What's on David Bain's iPod?,

By the way (sorry for interrupting), I did wonder how long it would take for the David Tamihere case to raise its head, given the Bain decision.

It has this afternoon, but due to the lack of a Joe Karam, can't see the poor bastard will ever be released.

(In case you've forgotten, Tamihere is in prison for the Swedish Tourist murders; the evidence in this trial was even more dodgy than the Bain case)

The next one will be Scott Watson.

Society has become grey. The legal system is black and white.

How can the two be reconciled? Who has new ideas on this?

"Well, I'm free, to do what I want, any old time..."

Innocent. Guilty. Works for both sides of the equation.

  • Cracker: Smack Your Kids Up,

Oh dear....made the mistake of posting without reading all replies.

Some of you men seem like you have some serious anger issues.

You think women are the issue?

Who do you think is responsible for most serious crime against children?
    Mothers or Fathers?

    Come on.

  • Cracker: Smack Your Kids Up,

    Paranoid Parents. Well known phrase.

Don't you all think you’re being just a tad over the top?

Do you REALLY think you'll be prosecuted?

And if so, what will the sentence be?

Fines? Community service? Prison? Home detention?

This kind of change is challenging, but absolutely necessary in my opinion. If you can’t think of a different way to discipline your children, perhaps you need to remind yourself why you’re having children in the first place.

What role do you think you play as parent? Guardian or god?

  • Hard News: Introducing GodTube,

As an ex-Pentecostal Christian, I can tell you that the "interesting parody" stuff isn't that interesting at all.

They tell you they don't believe in tradition but they're more conservative in their attitudes, thinking and behavior than modern Anglicans. What you wear to church is superficial...it’s what lies beneath that counts.

(So glad to see that in 20 years, Christian clowning is still alive and terrorising innocent rest home victims….hmmmm…!)
